Fantastic tour with Melbourne Private Tours. Jeff our guide was very well informed about the area and super friendly. It was a long 2 hour journey to Philip Island, and he kept us well entertained and informed about everything.
Once we got to the island, we were met by our ranger guide who gave us a history of the island and the little blue penguins. He took us to Churchill Island to view an original settlement from the 1800's and then on to the Koala Conservation Center, where we were able to see the last of the Philip Island koalas in the wild. From there we went to the penguin center where another ranger gave us a brief talk about the penguins and then led us on a short hike to the beach where we sat for about 20 minutes before the penguins came marching in.
The benefit of this tour is that there are only 10 people on it and you are up close to the penguins rather than being in bleachers with sometimes thousands or hundreds of spectators. Also we walked back through the penguin burrows and were able not only to see and hear them, but also see the island's wallabies as well.
After the tour, we were provided with an excellent private dinner with our guide Jeff -- all included.
Highly recommend this tour and using Melbourne Private Tours -- they are excellent.
