“Very comfortable and in a great location”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

This hotel is in a great location on St Kilda Road. Close to trams to get into the City, many restaurants within walking distance and Albert Park is not far away. I had a studio room which was very comfortable. Even though the room was next to the lifts it was extremely quiet and very comfortable. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The whole place has a bit of an opulent feel about it with lots of silver gilding, slightly eccentric artwork (ladies lying on pianos for example), velvet furnishings and padded bed heads. Reception staff friendly - although a little slow getting the booking processed - and explain everything you need to know. Good secure undercover parking and a good fitness centre. I would recommend this hotel as a good alternative if you don't want or need to stay right in the city.

I've stayed at the Mint on 5 occasions now. Every time have had a good stay, the staff are friendly and the rooms clean and a good size. My only criticism is that they price gouge on busy weekends (I know, I know, I guess I'd do this if I was running a business!) Please keep in mind all my stays were before it became the Mantra.

Room Tip: The free upgrade option is a great choice if you don't need parking. (It seems this has disappea...

Stayed just the one night in the studio apartment. Apartment was spotless, reception staff very friendly. Location is great as trams just out the front to go into CBD. If arriving by car book ahead for parking as they had booked out when we checked in and had to park out on busy St Kilda Rd.

After initial issues with reception attitude which were rectified by management we really enjoyed our short stay. It was a quick city getaway, the room was really well done and modern (although the artwork is a bit on the tacky side). Bathroom although small did the job the shower had great pressure. Bed was comfortable and the views from our room were great out onto st kilda road. Overall a good stay and well priced. It is far away from things so be aware of the location and also if you bring your car be sure to check the parking times or be stung with a fine like I was being 5mins late

Came here for a professional exam at the nearby Pullman hotel. Booked the studio apartment for 4 nights. Was very pleased to have a very early check in at 9am after an early flight. The staff was straight forward and efficient, but not much smile. Was pleasantly surprised to find the room well-lit and modern, quite spacious, with a clean bathroom. The room is equipped with cooking facilities. The balcony that is included in the studio is non-existent.. bcos it face the carpark with no view whatsoever and with a huge air con blowing away.. there is no way anyone who want to go out to the balcony. Mint is quite far away from the town centre, but u can catch the tram.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. I'm happy with the room itself. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms not facing the carpark

Stayed just before the Melbourne Open. This place is stunning. Very well decorated and stylish. Really easy location on the tram straight outside direct to federation square etc.

Everything you could need in a room

Shame the wifi cost so much

I stayed overnight and prepaid the booking ahead of time. On check in, I still needed to provide a credit card, which is still ok and usual. However this mob put a hold on $200 on the card.
We spent nothing, as there was nothing to purchase. Their restaurant was not open, and no deliveries/room service were available until after 7pm.
The girls on reception really didn't have a clue.
As at today, some 24 days after the fact, the $200 has still not been released, and now they appear to be no longer part of the Mint group, so I am still struggling to find someone who will take responsibility and release the funds.
Suggest you avoid this place like the plague.

Room Tip: Just look for another hotel
