“Petaling Street, Little Bourke St - Generous!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2014

Petaling Street is the name of a restaurant group in Melbourne. I am reviewing their food outlet in Little Bourke Street Chinatown (as are some other reviewers below, I think).

After lunching here on chicken nasi lemak (classic Malaysian dish) and chicken rice, we commend the generosity of portions (though perhaps go easy on the sambal sauce!) All the diners apart from ourselves appeared to be of student age - discriminating in their dining, no doubt. Ambiance and service, with its hawkers' style cuisine, half way between a food court and a restaurant. were a pleasing change from more abrupt Australian style. Though the aircon roars too loudly!

“Like the food .”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

We often eat here as the service is always great and the meals are well priced and tasty .

We also take others here and nobody has anything but good words to say about this eatery .

Even my son who usually is a steak and vegies kid ate well proving miracles can happen .

“what a find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

Stumbled upon this after a futile attempt at getting into one of Melbourne's celebrated Yum Cha Parlours on a Sunday. Ernest and friendly staff greeted us as we came in and it being half full (the dining room is pretty much like refectory style), made us very cautious however all fears were abandoned when the lor bak and fried wonton came, followed by the adequately "wok hei" char kway teow, and prawny hokkien prawn noodle soup. Bak kut teh was delicious with pepperings of goji berries to offset the sinful pork belly and pigs stomach.I was surprised to find atap chi in the ice kachang a lovely icing on the cake. To offset what I thought was a low key dining experience, i got a lovely bottle of Aussie Fiano which stood up to the sweet and spice quotient from vintage cellars opposite. we were allowed to savour the meal and finish the wine in a leisurely manner. will go back when i am in town.

“Delicious ”

Have had several visits to this Central Melbourne Malaysian kitchen style hawker food specialist - always good but recently updated menu is excellent with beef roti and sizzling fish fillet a joy of flavours at very reasonable prices - highly recommended!

“Great Hawker food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013

Really great food and very generous serving sizes. Great array of dishes to select from and the service is quick. In the evenings you may have to wait such is the commitment to the place by its regulars. Great Value
