This is a brilliant exhibition well worth the $26 entrance fee. There are 6 rooms full of paintings and drawings.

NGV is always a nice place to wander through but some new works- especially an Iranian installation- show they are keeping up with purchasing some thought-provoking artworks. Also they are prepared to take some risks with works that may be controversial. Well done!!

I was in Melbourne recently and decided to pay the NGV a visit. I was lucky that there was an exhibition for the Italian Masterpieces as part of Melbourne's Winter Exhibition series. The $26 entrance fee I paid was well-worth it as the exhibition features excellent Italian art pieces from Spain's Royal Court, Museo del Prado, spanning more than 300 years old. I've never seen such a huge collection of Italian artworks anywhere! Besides this, there are also other galleries in NGV exhibiting artworks from Asia and Europe which left me in awe too. I spent almost 4 hours during my visit. Highly recommended place to go if you are an arts lover like me!
