This market is really famous for it's huge size and one of the amazing landmarks in Melbourne, Australia. If you're visiting Melbourne, this is a must visit place. You'll find all sort of things like organic fruits and vegetables, plants, meat, poultry, seafood, home made goodies, delicatessen, handmade arts and crafts, souvenirs, clothings to name a few. You can go to a section where you can sit down for a nice cup of coffee with home made cakes, cookies or biscuits or just simply have lunch with family and friends after doing your shopping.

This is a large traditional market with a fantastic atmosphere and great selection of ultra-fresh food on display. I went round on my own and had a good experience. Later I joined the formal tour that can be booked through the internet and the experience was transformed from the good to the outstanding. On the tour you go to exactly the same places but the additional information and tastings you get is what makes it into a great live experience. I was the only overseas person on the tour and most people were from Melbourne who were also enjoying it.
Anybody interested in food, its origins, quality, display and sales will find this a very informative place to visit and the tour is highly recommended.

Although I don't like bric a brac, I really enjoyed the fresh food 'real market' section. We were staying in an apartment so I went 4 days a week to get fresh produce to cook with.

There are three sections to the Queen Victoria Market: the Food Hall (where you can pick up prepared foods and delicacies), the Produce Market (where you can buy plants, fruits and vegetables) and the Market, which is what I'm reviewing.

The Market is very, very large and repetitive. In going up and down each aisle, you'll easily begin to see some of the same goods again and again. BUT the prices are very reasonable. **It's a very good place to pick up inexpensive t-shirts (many selections as low as $5 AUD!) and get good deals on bulk souvenirs that you'll inevitably have to bring home to friends, family, coworkers.

They had everything that a regular market would have - crafts, art, shoes, hats, clothing, housewares, souvenirs, accessories, toys. Don't go expecting the highest quality items and you won't walk away disappointed.

Great place to spend some time. We arrived in Melbourne too early to book into our hotel so had a visit to the market. We have been there on other occasions and find it pleasant to stroll around and see what is around and to find a bargain. You always seem to find something ever if it's something you might not want or something that you are particularly after. In other words in keeps you entertained for a good deal of time. Food is abundant and good quality and price. It is also in a good location with plenty of public transport available.
