A small hotel - but fantastic service, and the recent renovations are amazing. The pool area is great, and they encourage you to have guests to visit which is a nice change. The pool area is also going to be done up before the next summer. Great location - close to trendy restaurants, and bars!

Hi jesspo_hall,

Your guests are our guests and we look to provide for you what best makes your stay enjoyable. I to have stayed at hotels that make it hard to see your friends at times and that is not what we are about here at Adelphi. We like to do things a bit different and with you in mind.

It's great that you appreciated the little differences.

Thanks for taking the time,
Lance

we stayed at the Adelphi for three nights from March 31st , from the moment we arrived we had the most lovely welcome, and it just continued to delight!, such a lovely personal hotel, the staff were all exceptional and so very helpful and friendly. Adelphi is in a perfect location, in the nice end of town, the room was a great size and the amenities and sweets were a bonus, I would go back any time !!
Thanks to all the staff for a perfect few days.

Dear judy5757,

What a joy is is to read your great feedback on a perfect few days driven by the service of the team here at Adelphi. They very much are our point of difference with other hotels and without them we don't succeed. Every hotel has comfortable beds and a nice hot breakfast but none have our team.

You would come back anytime and we will welcome you everytime.

Thanks for sharing your stay,
Lance

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights last Sunday and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is beautiful decorated and it's situated in a fantastic location. We were very lucky to have an upgrade to the Flinders king. I was a bit worry about the noise, but the room was very peaceful with plenty of natural light. The room is very spacious. You also can enjoy an exquisite selection of gourmet lollies. The lollies are all complimentary!

Also we tried the dessert bar and it was delicious.

Good food, good service and a beautiful place!
Thank you very much for having us we definitely will come back in the future.

Dear Julian R,

It is great to hear that you had such an enjoyable experience here at Adelphi. The Flinders King really is a fantastic room. The extra space and the natural light are quite something and for a multiple night stay such as yours the room really is perfect. Many feel that with such a central location that noise may become any issue but even with a room such as the Flinders King with it's Flinders Lane exposure, the impact is minimal.

Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you when you return.

Kind regards,
Lance

We stayed for a wedding anniversary and upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely card signed by all the staff and a bottle of French bubbles in our room. The décor of the hotel is quite eye catching and distinct, and the location is great. We have stayed at many other 5 star hotels in the city and this one has one of the best locations, and unlike many of the larger hotels and has excellent personal service. The staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful, right down to helping us with a mad dash to the airport to make our plane....just!

The breakfast was also very good and in keeping the hotel had a few interesting choices, not your run of the mill hotel breakfast, the baked eggs were delicious. We tried the bar for cocktails and desserts late after a night out and the place was still busy at 11:30pm and we could see why! the desserts are something else, faultless presentation and great flavours - definitely worth trying.

We will definitely go back and would recommend it to others for a great little getaway.

Hi JPC7005,

Glad you made your plane. A missed plane and long wait in an airport lounge would not have been the best end to a nice anniversary celebration. I'm pretty sure I can recall your visit actually.

Great to read that you loved all aspects of your stay with us and the little touches we like to add to special occasions such as yours. We feel we have the perfect, cosy environment for an anniversary celebration. Seems like you agree.

Thank you for sharing and telling others about our little hotel.

See you back again soon,
Lance

Myself and my wife stayed at this hotel for our anniversary. This was an AMAZING stay we were greeted on entry and the check-in process was very easy , we where escorted to our room and shown the bits and pieces.

The décor is great the bed super comfy and very roomy. There is a great pool that is heated.

There is complementary drinks in the fridge and a cool complementary sweets jar.

The hotel knew it was our anniversary and delivered a bottle of champagne to us :)

This hotel also has easy to use free WIFI.

Highly recommend this hotel with no negative comments.

Melbourne's best accommodation!

Hi Andy W,

Your review pretty much sums up what we are looking to offer here at Adelphi. All the little touches that you are a little less likely to get at your average hotel. We are a little different and proud of it.

Glad you liked spending your aniversary in 'Melbourne's best accommodation' :)

See you again soon and thanks for your wonderful feedback,
Lance

Sometimes these trendy, stylish hotels just don't get it right. Given, it looks great, rooms are beautifully decked out, but when you don't get good service, what's the point? There are several negative things I could say about this hotel, but here's a couple that may help travellers when deciding:

- Free Minibar. Be aware this is bottled water & coke, and some pringles/sweets in the room. Don't be fooled that you might get a cheeky gin & tonic, or beer in your fridge. Oh, and there's some milk to go with your coffee.

- Don't use your shower. As in our case, the heat from the shower apparently set off the fire alarm, causing us to evacuate the room, embarrassing us in front of other hotel guests, and then be told that that we are liable for the costs of the fire brigade being called out.

I stayed here on my wedding night and I'm serious - the following morning they told me I had to cough up the cash for the fire brigade being called out when I didn't even do anything to set it off.

There are some good points - great location, lovely restaurant staff (and breakfast), and discounted parking ($16 for the night), but the negatives (including some design flaws in the room) well outweighed the pros and I cannot recommend staying at this hotel.

Good Afternoon Cazzburgler,

Thank you for your feedback.
I assume this review was written prior to our earlier conversation the day after you checked out when I phoned you to follow up on your stay. During this conversation, you described your stay as a wonderful experience (with the exception of the fire alarm incident).
You mentioned you thought our staff were fantastic, in particular Michael, our duty manager who explained to you that we would try everything in our power to get out of the fire brigade call out fee caused by the excessive steam coming out from your bathroom. I have been advised that our smoke detectors can only be set off with an extreme level of steam in the room and it was of my initial understanding that they had been activated when you were using the bathroom to steam your bridesmaids dresses prior to the wedding.
Regardless of how it happened, I apologise if it caused you embarrassment in front of other hotel guests and as I have done previously, again I assure you we will not pass on the call out fee we incurred to you.
I am sorry you feel that the free minibar was not sufficient as it didn't contain alcohol. This is why we offer all of our guests complimentary welcome cocktails, beer, wines and spirits in addition to the premium sweets, snacks, soft drinks and juices we offer in all of our rooms.

Thank you for addressing some of the good points including our location, lovely restaurant staff and discounted parking.

Congratulations again on your wedding. We hope you are enjoying a fantastic honeymoon and my team and I would love to welcome you and your new husband back to experience Adelphi Hotel again soon. Hopefully you will take me up on the offer I have emailed you about separately.

Best Regards,
Dion

Recently stayed at the Adelphi for one night just before the Grand Prix as our travel package didn't cover the extra night. Picked the Adelphi off a hotel website as the 'boutique dessert hotel' title had me intrigued. It is tucked away in Flinders lane in Melbourne CBD, central to everything including public transport. The staff were lovely and helpful, we had a rental car and on a business day parking can cost up to $85 a day depending on the block, however reception offered us a discount pass to a multistorey car park only a few meters from the hotel front door, and it only set us back $16 for overnight parking.
A complimentary drink for each guest was included, as well as a fully stocked complimentary mini bar (no alcohol but it did have ferrero rochers!). We also had a free dessert included, however as we had already booked into the hotel dessert restaurant Om Nom for the 'Om Nom experience' (a 9 course degustation menu for $75pp, including 3 desserts and macarons with coffee), they simply took the cost of the complimentary dessert from our bill which was much appreciated and going above and beyond for customer service in my opinion.
So, the Om Nom experience is something everyone should experience in their life at least once! It was fantastically affordable and great value and each course was an experience unto itself. The experience starts with savoury including bugs tail, a delicious blue cheese, pear and walnut sauce salad, the duck breast with celeriac puree was AMAZING, scallops to die for and more. The dessert experience was a pleasure for all senses, very 'Heston Blumenthal-esque' and exquisitely presented. We were really quite full by the end of the 9 courses. The restaurant was fairly quiet on a Wednesday night (only 4 other groups of diners) with a lovely ambience. I cannot wait to return to Melbourne to sample the rest of the menu.
The room was spacious and clean and my name was written on the mirror welcoming us when we arrived at the hotel which was a nice touch. Complimentary macarons with turn down service was just another example of the unique and indulgent experience of staying at the Adelphi. I highly recommend this hotel for both the traveller that is looking for a unique experience, and for those that are looking for a convenient CBD location with close affordable parking to explore the city. We loved it and will be back!

Room Tip: Our room was next to the service elevator which got a bit noisy at night, next time I would request...

Dear B B,

Thank you for sharing what was obviously a fantastic and enjoyable stay with us here at Adelphi. Like you, we think it's great that there is affordable parking available close to the hotel. Last thing we want is for it to be tough for our guests to even make it to us. And after the gruelling effort of taking the great value parking directly next door, the least we can do is give you a drink once you settle in :). You will be pleased to know that our mini-bar has improved even further since your visit and is now made up entirely of Happy Lab confectionery. It's really something.

Great to also hear that your stay with us allowed you to experience all parts of Adelphi and your feedback on the Om Nom experience and the service of our team will most certainly be passed on. It is a great product that we have built here and it has been so well received from day one.

Thanks again for sharing your stay and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon,
Lance
