everything you would expect from a five star hotel EXCEPT reported dripping toilet in early afternoon but returned after outing and dinner to find not repaired leading to disturbed night's sleep

Room Tip: rooms on higher levels have great views of city and nearby facilities

Dear warrenandfaye,
From what started out as a fabulous and excellent stay, we’re sorry to hear that it was marred by some plumbing problems that kept you from a good night’s sleep. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, as it is certainly not indicative of our 5 star standards or service. We hope that you choose to stay with us again, and give us the opportunity to showcase everything you would expect from staying at a 5-star hotel in one of our beautifully refurbished Club King rooms.

We regularly select 'mystery deals' when booking accommodation in Melbourne. On our recent trip we were lucky to snag the Grand Hyatt.
We had quite a late flight into Melbourne so by the time we got to the hotel, we were tired and just needed to chill out. Check in was very quick and easy.
The room was very spacious and included a King size bed and lounge. The bathroom was massive with shower and bath (i.e. no shower over the bath!!). Marble and mirrors everywhere.
Location of the hotel is excellent. Only a short stroll to anywhere including the sports precinct (MCG, Rod Laver etc). Our room had views of the sports precinct too.
Just a bit of advice - if you don't want to oversleep, leave your curtain open a little to let the light in (or set the alarm). The window furnishings block every bit of light out.
We also enjoyed drinks in the bar late one night, only fault would be a 'couple' getting a bit too 'randy' beside the fire place.

Room Tip: I think any of the rooms would be great.

Dear RAIDER29,
What a great Mystery deal! It is good to know that the biggest problem you had during your stay was trying not to sleep in! With Grand Hyatt Melbourne in such a perfect location, close to shopping, sporting arenas, theatres, bars and restaurants you don’t want to miss a minute of your day! We hope to see you back again soon.

My daughter and I recently ventured to Melbourne for a girls shopping trip and picked up a great deal on lastminute.com.au for a 4 night stay at the Hyatt. The lobby, staff and rooms are everything you expect from a luxury hotel.....BUT.....they seriously need to check the water pipes. I swear that every time someone on the floor above, floor below or in any room on our floor took a shower, you could hear the water in the pipes.

Besides that, the room was spacious enough and the beds very comfortable. The proximity to the city, attractions, trams and restaurants was fantastic.

Dear vanjola,
What a fabulous last minute deal – Grand Hyatt Melbourne is in the perfect location for a girls shopping weekend! Whether you’re after couture fashion, the eclectic mix of boutiques tucked in Melbourne’s laneways or the bustle of Bourke Street mall - they are all just a stone’s throw away from the hotel. We’re sorry to hear that you experienced noisy plumbing, and it has been raised with our Engineering team for review. We hope that you choose to stay with us next time you visit Melbourne.

Beautiful - luxurious - sublime.
My partner and I stayed for a weekend in Melbourne and due to the trusted Melbourne weather we didn't leave the hotel. The hotel layout is unusual but fascinating, the rooms very appropriate for business trips or couples and restaurant is to die for- and the bar, cocktails- not your standard list, someones put some some delicious creativity into drinks. The only other time I have felt like I'd not wasted a holiday by staying within the hotel was at Crown Towers, so I shall return!

I had to visit Melbourne along (63 yo female) and stayed in a club room. The room was really comfortable and roomy with everything you could need (except wifi). Room service food was prompt, delicious and very well priced. The club room breakfast (included in the rate) was very good, and the service in all areas - food, reception, doormen etc, was brilliant. I would have no hesitation staying there again and recommending it to anyone else. It is very close to the city centre, theatres and restaurants. Taxis are a "whistle blow" away..

Room Tip: Club rooms are on highest floor and give you access to the club lounge for continental breakfast, co...

I stayed here for two nights with one of my friends on a girls trip to Melboune in April. It was fabulous! Walking distance to central Melboune, heaps of places to eat. Our room was accross the road from Elephant and Wheelbarrow (awesome pub), so it was a little noisy, but nothing dreadful. Fabulous curtains which totally blocked out the light, allowing us to sleep in. Staff were friendly enough, hotel was clean. Our room was on the 11th floor, and pretty cheap, so bathroom was a bit old with a shower over the bathtub, but not a big deal. Good value for money- left more $$ for shopping :)

Dear miriam a,
Thank you for your kind review – however we don’t think you are describing Grand Hyatt Melbourne? Our hotel is located at 123 Collins Street, and The Elephant & Wheelbarrow is on the corner of Bourke and Exhibition street which is two blocks north of us. That said, it is great to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Melbourne, even if you didn’t stay with us.
