The location of the hotel was great. The pricing during Christmas weekend was a little unbearable but if you go past the price the trip became very enjoyable because of the location of the hotel. It was easy to go for late dinner and enjoy the night life.

The amenities was kind of proportional to the room rate of $400 per night. But location makes it stand apart.

Stayed here with family on NYE, for the fourth consecutive year. Perfect location for the city fireworks, in fact you can still see them from your hotel room. We had two rooms, one smaller than the other but still very comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are spacious. They used to have Nespresso machines in the rooms not sure when they stopped offering that. This is the first year we didn't get a club room as the club is usually packed on NYE, can't even get a seat for evening canapes so decided it wasn't worth it this year. Staff are very professional, even on a busy night. I rang to ask for a microwave to heat up baby food. They offered to pick up the food and bring it back heated instead! Our breakfast room service seemed to have got lost as well (we rang up 40 minutes after our requested time - thought perhaps busy kitchen) to be told they didn't get our breakfast order overnight. Was very surprised though when they managed to put it together and send to our room within 10 minutes or our call!!! Unexpected and very impressed by this! It is a city hotel, the pool is more of a 'gym pool' (definitely not a resort pool but still saw a few kiddies with parents). Lobby area is gorgeous with interesting features, lots of comfortable seats. Will probably come back again for NYE. Close walk to Fed Square and shops/ restaurants. Further up Collins St would probably be quiet as mainly office buildings that way.

We used to stay at this property many many times in the 90's...and it's only better than before. Although the check in was a little too time consuming - everything else was just great...starting with Trevor who looked after our car (and wines in it from King Valley), to Michael at the concierge desk who was quick and efficient with our dinner booking. The Club level was busy (hotel was full last night), but yet there was still plenty of room for everyone. AND the selection of high quality canapes was exceptional!.

We chose to stay in Grand Hyatt on my trip to Melbourne, and we got a room on the 31st floor. The view from there was amazing.. You could see the river and the streets and MCG from there. Had a king-sized bed and a very helpful staff to help us with, and delicious snacks available on 34th Floor.. The location is pretty strategic as well. Its close to the ACMI & Melbourne Visitor Center while Botanical gardens as well as Shrine of Remembrance are also in the vicinity. Also, readily available taxis round the clock ensure that you would never be late, whether you want to visit a place or leave for the airport !!

So glad we chose the Grand Hyatt as our base to explore Melbourne for a few days. Staff was very helpful to we jet lagged travelers. We appreciated that the concierge did not promote the hotel dining room when we asked for a recommendation within walking distance for a light dinner the afternoon we arrived after a long trip from the States. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone, regardless of your homeland. The strawberries were so good! And I was served hot tea made with loose tea of my choice. Location is great for walking to major city destinations whether museums, gardens, high end shopping...Hotel needs to forget the $29 daily Wi-Fi charge. Attended reception in one of the hotel "public" rooms which was a lovely garden setting and the staff catered it with class.

We used the hotel as a base to attend the Australian Open tennis and it was excellent. Great service, polite and friendly staff and a wonderful large room that had a King sized bed and plenty of space for an additional bed for our 13yo grandson.
