I stayed here on holiday and was probably one of the few guests here who was not staying for business. It's an immense building with 33 floors and one of the biggest fitness centers I have ever seen. Location is great and only a few blocks away from Federation Square, Chinatown, and all the shopping arcades.

There is a lounge on the 31st floor with panoramic views towards the Yarra River and a continental spread for breakfast (I didn't go for canapes or anything in the evening). My room on the 32nd was rather noisy with pipe noises (water being used from other rooms) but didn't bother me too much though I could understand it if others were. My room (3225) also faced the office buildings across the street which made it difficult to keep the blinds open as the workers could look right into the room, so I would suggest getting a room that faced elsewhere.

I have stayed here on my birthday/mothers day for the past two years and it is still my favourite hotel in Melbourne.

Staying in Grand Club rooms, we utilised the Grand Club Lounge a lot, and enjoyed it. Free drinks and snacks all day, sitting on lounges looking out at an amazing sunset was one of the highlights of the stay. The service in the Club Lounge is amazing. THe breakfasts provided are great, as are the evening drinks and canapes. So many delicious things from fruits, to cheeses, to chocolate truffles, we really enjoyed our time on level 31.

The rooms are decorated great, and the view facing south over the park is fantastic, we were even able to see the yachts on the bay!

Unfortunatly the pool was being renovated during our stay, so we only had access on the first day. The pool is smaller than those at other hotels, but saunas, steam rooms, the spa and plunge pool make up for that somewhat. The gym is very big too.

Lunch buffet at Collins Kitchen was great. Usually we do not eat at Buffet's but this one was great, with a cold section, hot section and dessert section. A chef will make your pasta to order, and there is sushis, breads, pizza, asian noodles, hot chips, cheeses. The cheesecakes, macaroons and all the desserts were great, If only we could fit more in! Again the service at Collins Kitchen is great.

Location wise again, was fantastic, even though it was raining, we were able to walk outside and shop in Collins street quickly, then slip back into the hotel.

A negative of this hotel however is, the television channels are not great. We have stayed at many other hotels in Melbourne and most have more options of entertainment channels, where instead here, we struggled to find something to watch on tv at night. Hopefully they can provide better channels in the future.

Special mention to the doorman near the driveway entrance, always so nice and happy! From arrival to departure, they are always making me smile with their enthusiasm.

We look forward to returning again. :)

Room Tip: Club ROoms or Corner Rooms are the best

This hotel is well situated in Melbourne. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Great bathroom, excellent breakfast! Staff were very efficient but cold at check in and check out. Would stay here again. I had very noisy guests above me which spoilt my stay a little.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay in this hotel - but we did pay top dollar. The room was well appointed with a lovely view. However when we went to get a coffee we found the room had not been replenished with coffee pods all were gone. To further compound the obvious slip up when the room was cleaned was the milk was not checked, it had been opened
& a small amount used. It took 2 goes to get the correct coffee, instant was brought first. The buffet breakfast was excellent in quality, range and value for money. It was not appreciated having to wait some time for a table when we could clearly see a nbr set and available and remained so. Another couple bypassed the queue and was served and seated before those waiting in the queue. As said good hotel , but the minor things stay with you and override some if the hop good experiences.

Booked an overnight stay as we were in the city to see a stage show. The Grand Hyatt was wonderful. From the moment we checked in, the staff and facilities were excellent. From front desk to service staff, doormen and the very exceptional head chef all made this a very welcoming stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Collins kitchen I would highly recommend. Looking forward to a return visit.
