“Comfy and conveniently located!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2010

Stayed for 5 nights from the 10th August. Overall, had a great experience with Mercure Spring St. Reception was friendly and prompt. The cafe Lime Cafe is great with nice & sufficient menu items.. Room service was prompt and as expected. Room was great and comfy, big enough for the 3 of us (our 9 mths old son was with us in this trip). Maybe the only grouse I have is the heater in the room, seems not heating enough for us in this cold August Melbourne winter and also that there is no ramp for us to wheel in/out the baby pram for our son, but thats not so much a hassle as it was just a few steps from the street... great location too as it is right beside the tram stop where it was easy for us to hop onto the free City Circle Tram... and very near the APT Touring bus boarding point at Federation Square ... overall, highly recommended...

Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating! They made our stay the positive experience it was. After raising our concern about possible lift noise, it was no trouble to provide another room for our entire eight day stay. The room met our needs, was clean and sound-proof. We were particularly touched with the room staff who made up our bed each morning, arranging our teddies in comfortable positions to welcome us home each evening. The front desk staff were always happy to help, never bothered, readily approachable and a delight to deal with. Mercure Spring Street may be a hotel starting to feel its age, but the staff are why we would return to stay. It is located within walking distant to the MCG, Federation Square and Spencer St Station, plus numerous trams. Easy to explore the city from, at a quiet end of town across from some beautiful gardens.

The Mercure has to be in one of the best locations in Melbourne, very handy to sporting grounds, shops, theatres and entertainment. The restaurant, and staff, were great. Two complaints, our room would have been better had we had a more comfortable bed, coupled with a larger bathroom (the bathroom was far too small. Very difficult to shower in, and you shouldn't have to try to go to the toilet on an angle!!) Over all though we most definitely enjoyed our stay in this wonderful city and would love to return.

I found the service to be of the highest standard. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel restaurant served excellent meals and the buffet breakfasts were delicious (apart from the machine-generated coffees!). The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. The hotel is centrally situated, whilst still having garden views (although not all rooms have this). The only down-side are the steps to the front entrance, which are a bit difficult to negotiate if you have a lot of or heavy bags, particularly for the older person - there are no bellboys to help. However, all in all, an excellent place to stay.

Staff were friendly but understaffed waiting to check in/out was a process, as their was only 2 staff on at peak times. In the rooms finding the informaton about the accomodation was not straight forward.

My Husband and I have Advantage Plus membership and were wanting to stay the night after the footy, Mercure Melbourne is the closest (only a walk away) Accor hotel to the MCG. We found the hotel quite comfortable and the bar was good for a couple of pre footy drinks, also had some room service which was good aswell. The only thing is the bathrooms are quite compact but the shower was good and had another mirror in the main room. Overall would definately stay again if going to the football.
