Wow, someone in a hotel has finally realised that they need to put a mirror next to a flat surface, next to a power point so we can do our hair & make-up!!! Most hotels make it very difficult to straighten you hair & do your make up even though this is a very cheap, simple problem to fix. This hotel was very well laid out with an area separate to the main part of the bedroom where the wardrobes, kettle & fridge & the mirror were, this was great because I often wake up a couple of hours before my partner & the layout here meant that he was not disturbed.
The room was very clean & modern. We were in a room overlooking the Oval & tennis courts which meant it was quiet & there were lovely views back towards Melbourne.
The St Kilda Road location meant that there wasn't much nearby in the way of major attractions or restaurants & bars & we personally like to be central to be able to walk to these things, which you couldn't do from here. It is quite easy to get trams to the City or St Kilda though.

We stayed at Parkview for the Australian Open 2012, and also to celebrate my birthday! We stayed for 4 days.
We find the hotel accessible to Melbourne Park, and also to Chapel Street. The tram line is just infront of the hotel to go to the city. It's about a 15 min trip. You can even buy the tram ticket at the hotel reception which costs only $7 all day fare. Cheap compare to other cities.
We were a bit reluctant at first when we saw the hotel for the first time, as the exterior and entrance was nothing special. The lobby was plain, and reception was unattended. Then we were surprised when we arrived at our Room. It was very modern, huge, clean and has good sized arm chairs, study table and massive plasma TV!!! The bed was king size, which according to our booking was only a double! I would like to emphasize the cleanliness and comfortability of the bed!! We've been to numerous hotels, mainly 5 stars but though Parkview was only 4.5 stars, it felt like it was 5 star whilst we were inside the room! Again, I repeat the outside was nothing special, reception was bland, reception staff may need more training with customer service perhaps as the lack of enthusiasm! But the room, well it did not disappoint!!! Good parking facility. $10 per day..
Lastly, I would like to say that the heart of this hotel are the cleaners! For number of days we can't help but to observe them, particularly a lady named Sue, she has the most wonderful enthusiasm and friendliness considering the hardwork they do!!! Everytime we walk pass she greets us with a huge smile on her face, but noticeably
tired. She kept our room clean everyday!

Stayed recently at the hotel during a business trip. Had a good stay. The room was big, clean and well furnished. Had a view of a cricket ground from the room.

The breakfast options were good. Tried room service which was good. Working late, it was convenient that they served food till late night. Overall service was quite good. Friendly staff.

The hotel is well connected. Tram stops are less than 100 m from the hotel. There is a lake (Albert Park Lake) near the hotel, good place for a jog/walk.

There was a discrepancy in the bill which I realized after a couple of days. Sent an email to the hotel and they promptly refunded the amount on the same day.

9/1/12 - First visit for 2012 - have stayed many times - booked at short notice - had late night check in - same reception staff remembered me from previous visits, as did the restaurant staff at breakfast. This was a quick overnight stay before moving elsewhere.
Good sized room - comfortable bed

Room Tip: City view rooms are good, if available at checkin it's worth upgrading

booked a guest room / twin room (essentially the same except for bedding) thru a promontional half price deal for $120 per night, was also given the option to upgrade the same room to a king size bed with city views for extra $25 per night, but i was happy as is.

hotel is said to have had a refurbishment, and it is noticeable. everything in the room seemed new and clean. the bathroom immaculate and no shower over bathtab scenario which some cheaper hotels seem to have. the bathroom layout was new and modern. there was a seperate 'dressing' area which was an excellent idea, where you could make cups of tea, store luggage etc and the room kept tidy, the bathroom was hidden around behind this as well and had a proper door from top to bottom. some hotels seem to like the wooden lattice idea but i prefer privacy.

the room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. our view looked onto a carpark wall however there was plenty of space between, and so lots of light, the linen was crisp and new and the large flat screen tv built nicely into the wall opposite the bed.

there is a $10 per day car parking fee but this was included in our deal. the tram lines are 5 mins walk away and will take you straight into the city along the same rd. so we didn't have to use our car, and we explored melbourne happily this way.

it was said to be a half price deal but i'm not sure if i were to pay $240 per night for the same room i'd be equally as happy. comparable to other hotels of the same luxury and settings a price of around $180 - 195 would be a good deal any more and i'd probably expect an added room or bigger bathroom or something.

overall an excellent and happy stay, staff were friendly and helpful. i would definitely come back here if the opportunity arose again. great place.

I stayed here on a Scoopon deal for $159 that included one night in a city view room, buffet breakfast for two, internet and a late check-out of 1pm.

What wasn't included in my deal was parking which is $10 a night extra in the car park in the basement of the building. Very secure.

Right on the corner of St Kilda Road, near the corner of Commercial Road. Close to Albert Park, Alfred Hospital and a major tram route on the door step.

Has great views from the city view rooms. I was on the 8th floor out of nine. There's a plunge pool, gym and laundry on the 9th floor.

The buffet breakfast served in the cafe downstairs is pretty much the same standard as others I have had before.

Room Tip: Choose the city view room for nice views of the city.

Parkview was a pleasant hotel, but in need of a decent renovation. Staff were friendly and efficient. It is very handy for business in Melbourne's south. Breakfast is very expensive at the hotel, but certainly not worth it and there are ample good options nearby. Trams are out the front, providing good access to the city. There is also parking for $10 a night extra. For the room price, this hotel was not particularly good value.
