Well just had 2 nights at the Royce. The rooms were great expect there was no instruction booklet for any on the room features. The light switches were confusing to use and in some cases did not work. The Spa would not work and it took a member of the staff 20 minutes to get it to operate. We went to have dinner in the restaurant on Sunday night only to be told that it does not open Sunday's. Over all we had a poor experience and would probably not return.

Well positioned between CBD and St Kilda on the tram lines between posh school and cafe vue. Good choice if don't wish to be right in town but also not too far out. Rather dowdy exterior, soul-less lobby and staff. Brekky average. Room decent but this is not a hotel for views. Short stroll to the memorial however. Good walk to The Point for a good lunch. Two months later struggling to think what's memorable about The Royce. Still unsure just how it wants to pitch itself. Not quite luxury boutique, and not much evidence of trying hard enough.

We have never stayed here before because we usually stay in the CBD. We were pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful place to stay, very stylish. Staff were very friendly. Will definitely stay again, was value for money with breakfast included. We stayed on a weekend and just parked on the street nearby which was still ok and didn't cost . With any hotel, I ask for a quiet room away from traffic and this was the case. Very quiet room. I highly recommend the Royce Hotel.

Room Tip: Appears all rooms are nice. Check out their web site for different room styles.

I had wanted to stay here for a while, having read reviews and seen nice photos etc. I think my expectations were a bit high. I'm sure its a great hotel, but a couple of things ruined this for me.
I was disappointed to get a room on the ground floor ( I wanted to go up the grand staircase-haha, or elevator at least ). But instead i was on ground floor, across from a kitchen and staff facilities. This also meant it was a bit noisy. It also meant i didn't have a view. I didn't need high up spectacular views of st kilda rd or botanic gardens, just any view would have been nice.
Then there was breakfast in Dish - also had read many good things. It was average to many other places i have been. I also ordered poached eggs and they weren't cooked properly.
Don't get me wrong, the Staff were lovely though, both at reception and Dish. Oh and i had room service which was good and came quick

A nice business hotel in a convenient location, the rooms are modern and stylish. Make sure you avoid the ground floor and get a room on the opposite of St. Kilda Road. The room rate is good value and breakfast is good. One watch out - the hotel website says it is equipped with a gym, but it's a tiny room with no quality equipment, so if you're expecting to be able to work out, you're better to just go for a run around the Tan.

My partner and I booked in for an overnight stay and were very happy with everything. We booked a deluxe room but were upgraded on arrival to one of the loft suites - part of the original Rolls Royce showroom on the ground floor. The room was very modern, with two bathrooms, downstairs lounge room and upstairs a loft bedroom with an additional tv and bathroom with shower. Concierge were friendly and polite, however didn't go through the hotel facilities and there was nothing in the room to suggest facilities, just the mention of the bar and restaurant on the ground floor. We were given 2 drink vouchers however were so tired we didn't end up using them. The bed was comfy, if not a little on the soft side, and heating worked well. Location was fantastic, we were able to walk through the botanic gardens the next day and into the city in about 25minutes. Room service was very well priced and very tasty. Breakfast was the standard buffet with everything on offer. Overall a fantastic stay and we were very happy.

Room Tip: The ground floor loft suites are street facing - so although a great size, if you open the curtains...

We usually stay in CBD Southbank or South Yarra, however thought wed try somewhere different for a change and give these guys a try.10 mins by tram ride to the city making this hotel a nice change. Lack of availability of hotel parking was at first a bit off putting however concierge said there was ample weekend parking out the front and around the hotel and they were correct. Bonus ! Corporate rate was a bargain $200 for a saturday night in Melbourne and buffett brekky included. Sold! Hotel has distinct character a little bit of mystery and history and front desk staff very friendly and hospitable.Room was small but cosy and had all amenities. Quirky that toilet was in same part of bathroom as shower behind a glass door and not good design as water made floor slippery and a hazard.Besides the obvious which was you couldnt use toilet if someone else was in the shower. No hot water the night we stayed ( just luke warm) adequate toiletries and towels. Comfy bed but no extra blankets and we couldnt seem to get the air con to function well as had two settings freezing cold OR hot so we turned it off!Hotel Bar was funky cosy and groovy...Mmm staff not so groovy. When we are away from the kids we like to relax and have a few drinks and look what a funky little bar to do this in BUT A particular male Bar staff member could of been friendlier and let the hotel down. Maybe he was brand new to bar tending or was simply not an "active listener". We both ordered drinks a beer (Corona) and a southern on ice and he had NO IDEA what we ordered as picked up totally different drinks until we intervened. I ordered a southern on ice and received a short glass which he filled over the rim with a small scale chunk of ice resembling a small scale iceberg (!) and I had to personally point out the southern comfort on the bar shelf as he couldnt find it.When I commented that there was too much ice the bartender took it personally and became quite stroppy I remember thinking " is this guy serious?" It was not like I asked him to mix a long island iced tea wow very disappointing for a city boutique hotel. Hmmm Ice AND attitude!! I could of demanded a remix but really his lack of hospitality and skills was an indication that there would be no improvement so I let it go but we didnt buy any other drinks from the bar which could of been a long tab disappointed we went into the city instead.Enough said.On a brighter note Buffet brekky in DISH restaurant was outstanding fresh cooked with plenty of choices (but you pay extra for a proper coffee so latte lovers beware it will cost you) Brekky was included in corporate rate a further bonus was brekky didnt finish until 11am which was welcomed we had a sleep in after a big night out.Look if you want to try somewhere different a bit out of the city and just down St Kilda Rd it was fantastic value at the rate we got even with the rooms quirks and hotels inadequate bartender(goto another bar lol) I can only compare this hotel to simliar "boutique" properties being The Olsen in South Yarra which was same corporate rate and I have to say the attention to detail is this hotel is absent. A Good stay value was excellant however this little gem has the potential to become something guests could really tell their friends about!
