“Comfortable Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2012

Great place to stay. Central in the CBD walking distance to trams and most attractions.
Reception staff friendly and helpfull. Rooms cleaned everyday. Hotel position is within walking distance to free tram, also tram stop outside front door. We really enjoyed Melbourne including the rain.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room overlooking the construction site. No problems with noise.

We stayed at the Somerset for a girls shopping trip. Location was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful - 24hr service. The rooms were quite big, very clean and comfortable, had everything you need. The only downfall was the noise, it is on a busy road. I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent personal and service. Rooms look fresh and cleaned everyday. Hotel position is just in the middle of Center Business District and it's quite easy to reach any other place of the city from here. There is gym, sauna & spa available for free. Only bad thing is absence of WiFi in the room - only wired connection. Room itself is very good, there are even 2 TVs inside.

Room Tip: Choose the room from the west side, since there is a construction work outside from the east for the...

The Somerset was off to a great start - friendly and helpful staff at the front desk - which was 24hr service. The rooms were quite big and very comfortable, they had everything you could need. Price was OK - a bit expensive but it is Melbourne so you expect it. Central location was great and the only thing that ruined our stay was the rain :)

Good hotel. Stayed in an executive king room with my partner for 5 nights. i was worried after reading all the bad reviews on here but when we got the the room was great. refurbished with all the amenities, tvs, washer, good shower pressure, etc. The location is perfect it is an interesting walk to anywhere u want to go. only negative point would be the lack of facilities, no gym, no 24h room service, no bar etc. since it was only 3 nights we didnt really notice though.

Fantastic location in Melbourne City, on Elizabeth between Bourke Street mall and Melbourne Central shopping centre. We found the hotel so easy to locate from the airport. The staff were always happy and very accommodating with our requests. This being our first hotel stay since welcoming our son to the traveling circus, we had a few requests. All were met simply and quickly. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom big with lots of space, the living room spacious and the kitchenette useful. Having read a few reviews on the hotel I was worried about the noise from the street. The only noise that we heard were the trams, which wasn't a problem at all. The street had been busy when we were out so I was expecting to be kept awake either by our little one struggling with the noise or kept awake by the noise ourselves. Anyway, nothing to worry about. Even though the parking was costly, it was convenient and our car always available (valet is the only choice due to its location). A car wasn't necessary for Melbourne but helped us get around other parts of Melbourne.
