“Very pleased with our choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

I saw that someone who stayed 2 wks before us thought the apartment was tired & sparsely furnished.
We stayed on 25th Feb - room 604 and were delighted - maybe they are gradually refurbishing the place.
We almost stayed at an Oaks establishment but who wants a 10.00am checkout.
Exhibition Str is a great location in Melbourne & at around $150 a night great value altho if u like an en suite to be with a pace u might be dissapointed with the walk to the bathroom :)
Nice toiletries, decent size towels - their car park is not theirs but is close by & there is a 5 min drop off.

Well-positioned, it delivered what was promised but it looked very tired and in need of re-furbishing. We had a 2 bedroom apartment - furnishings and decor were sparse and it had the bare essentials. Beds were ok, place was clean, facilities were minimum and of a regular standard. It was well-priced for the location but not for the standard.

Dear WestyTweedValley,

Thank you for your review. It is good to get constructive and honest feedback. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our location and the service of my staff. Last year we did undergo an extensive refurbishment replacing furniture, TV's, carpet and other items. This process is still ongoing and we are always looking to make more improvements where we can.

I appreciate your feedback and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Kind Regards,

Tim Young

We stayed here from 12/2 to 15/2 in Apartment 308 Exhibition view.
So very quiet and apartment was so clean and staff were so helpful.
The kitchen was well stocked with all cooking items 3 saucepans,2 fry pans etc
Microwave,2 glass hotplates,Fridge,toaster,Jug etc.
Enough crockery & cutlery for three people even wine glasses.
Rooms-Lounge with a sliding door that seperated the bedroom-both these rooms were large and the bathroom was an excellent size with bath and shower and there were heaps of hot water and good towels..
Even a washer/dryer in a seperate cupboard.
Floor to ceiling was about 15 feet so this gave the feeling of lots of space.
The internet kiosk is excellent 20 mins for $2 and easy to use.

We usually stay at The Sofitel in fact we were staying there when we came around the corner into Exhibition St and saw Mantra Exhibition. We called in and they gave us a very good deal for 3 nights.I have looked at some of the reviews and could have been easily been put off but after staying at Mantra Exhibition I just wonder what some of you want in an inner city apartment.
The furniture looked like it was new and after the first night under a very hot doona we asked for a blanket instead of the doona, the blanket was very fluffy and clean.

There is a Subway and a 7/11 store almost next door to the apartments and towards Bourke st is a PIE FACE shop that sells excellent pies of all descriptions plus many other little eating shops in the area.

Something about our Mantra Exhibition apartment was a feeling of a cosy place-you don't get that feel in a hotel room and over the last year we have stayed in many because of medical appointments that require us to be in Melbourne from the country for several days at a time.
So "Thank You Mantra Exhibition"
.

Room Tip: Get an Exhibition Street view it is so good for "People Watching"

Wanted a nice comfy place to stay to also celebrate my partner's birthday which was held on Collins St. Great location, easy to get to anywhere around popular city spots either by foot or tram, but not noisy within the rooms. Great use of space in the 1br apartment with full kitchen facilities, dining area, lounge area, decent view and separate bedroom with sliding doors. Absolutely clean and immaculate upon arrival. When it comes to hotels, it's the small things that count. Getting greeted by hotel staff anytime of day or night, premium bedding including sheets & pillows, superbly comfortable matress, large bathroom. Paid $169 for the night, not much to fault here other than carparking is a little steep and a chore to get to the garage but this is understandable for inner city.. Will not hesitate to stay again.

When I go to Melbourne I usually stay at more boutique hotel style properties like the Lindrum or Pensione because I'm either travelling alone or with just one other person. This time we were a group of 4 people (2 of us a couple) so we needed a 3 bedroom apartment ideally, so I started to look at serviced apartments rather than hotels to save a bit of money. Bad idea, I should have just booked 3 nice hotel rooms next to each other in a nice hotel.

Firstly, only one Mantra in Melbourne has a 3 bedroom apartment, and it's $600-$800 per night. Yeah right. So I decided to book a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom apartment. I booked Mantra on Exhibition because it's near most of the things I like to do in Melbourne including the bars and restaurants I like to visit while I'm there.

I tried to book online on Mantra's website (as I always try to book direct with the hotel) but it wouldn't let me book two rooms. So I went to Booking.com and booked it and they probably lost a couple hundred dollars in commission. Make your website as easy to use as travel agent websites, that's hotel marketing 101 isn't it?

When we got to the hotel they only had one room booked for us, so the clerk had to find us a two bedroom then and there, but he was pretty quick and efficient in doing this. The one bedroom was ok, the two bedroom was weird, massive white hallways and walls everywhere, both bedrooms with no window, it felt like an asylum. Everything was clean but it wasn't worth the price we paid as the apartment was pretty bare.

We stayed for 2 nights and each day had to walk past the life size cut-out of Pat Rafter in the lobby each day saying 'What's your Mantra?' in a speech bubble above his head - tragic. My friends paid me out the entire trip because I booked the hotel haha. I learnt my lesson through embarrassment.

If you're a family of two adults and two kids from Noosa and you're going to the big city for the weekend you'll love this place!

I recently stayed for a Girlz weekend away. Great location. Room was clean and furnished with slick modern furnishings. Staff were very helpful. Some have made complaints about noise in the alley we didn't find this to be an issue. We did order in from the gourmet to you menu which was a dissapointment so wouldn't recommend it.

2 friends and I spent 3 nights at the Mantra on Exhibition over the weekend. It was the perfect space for a weekend in Melbourne, one person took the comfortable fold out and the other 2 shared the bed. The room's were very clean and tidy, and we couldn't fault the staff. It does look like they have renovated around old fixings in the bathroom, but everything was in great order. It's an awesome location, an easy walk to wherever you want to go without the hetic tramworks that were going on down the road.
