“A good option”
Reviewed 13 August 2007

We have just returned from a trip away to Melbourne. We stayed at the Pacific International Apartments on Exhibition. The apartments are very good. The apartments are new and well fitted. They are serviced daily and are kept in a clean condition.

The hotel is situated in the Paris end of Melbourne. It is near Parliament House, Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and Rod Laver Arena. The apartments are surrounded generally by office buildings and is only a short walk to the Bourke St Mall.

The apartment itself had a very comfortable bed and pillows. The sheets were clean and we had great night sleeps. There was a bit of noise from traffic but this didnt bother us. It wasn't loud enough that we couldn't hear the television. The TV is rather small but if you arn't in the room for long periods of time, this won't be much of an issue. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The shower lacked water pressure which can be a little annoying but in this time of drought we all should be trying to save water. This isn't a critism as such, just an observation if a strong hot shower is a must for you. The apartments do not have a balcony but does have a large window looking over Exhibition St. The windows only open a few centimetres. The kitchen is only basic, but has a hotplate, microwave and basic utensils.

If you require parking like we did, make sure you confirm this in advance direct with the hotel. I made a request for parking at the time of booking through Wotif but when we arrived, we did not have a parking spot booked. Luckily for us, there was a spot available. There are only ten car spaces for the entire hotel. To get into the car park, you will need to drive into a hoist which requires some precision driving. If this isn't your best skill, staff are more than happy to assist. (I didn't need their help of course!)

I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to couples without children.

After extensive searches on various sites we decided to stay 8 nights at the pacific international apartments we booked directly we the hotel and the quoted price was better than going through wotif , we arrived late at night and were promptly booked in and given our room .we woke to a view from the 7th floor looking out the back of the hotel on to the roofs other buildings and car parks, the windows were not double glazed and I recall the mild pump of music but we were tired and slept through the noise, the second night was a bit different not the noise but the bed ,we contacted reception and we selected different pillows that they had on offer (5 different types are available) unfortunately this didn’t make a lot of difference and we put it down to the bed being to firm, the 4th night we slept on the pull out sofa bed which had about the same comfort level as the bed. after enduring half our holiday with the surf board bed we decided to just put up with it. Other minor faults included a foul smell from the toilet/ bathroom, a continuous whirring from the built in bathroom fan, in-house movies not working on very small T.V. (This was fixed the next day) And the apartment fridge could not maintain a cool temperature which destroyed the lovely food we purchased from the queen Victoria markets. House-keeping could also have been better
Over all the apartment meet our expectations the rooms are large, clean and have all the creature comforts except the bed which was just wrong, especially after reading that other members said the bed was comfortable

Stayed here for 3 nights in June 2007. The room was a good size and the bed was most comfortable. The only downside to this accomodation was that it coud do with a decent clean in the bathroom. The hotel is well located in the "Paris" end and is a short walk to great shopping and good food. The staff were helpful in regards to a broken showerhead and this was fixed by the next day. Overall for the price you pay, this hotel is good value for money.

Stayed in a standard 1/br apartment here for 2 days in May 07 and we were very very happy. Despite an advertised 2pm check in, on arrival at 9am to store our baggage we were advised we could have our room immediatley for no additional cost. Rooms were very large, with one entire wall floor to ceiling windows providing excellent city views and lots of natural light. The rooms were spacious (seperate lounge room with kitchenette, laundry etc) high ceilings and modern fixtures. Curtains and sheets, towels etc all lovely quality and the whole place was very very clean. Two TVs & a CD player, microwave with game consols available on request - there was a large shower but
I did miss having access to a bath and the water pressure was pretty bad. Friendly helpful staff and fresh flowers in the lobby a nice touch. After 3 visits to Melb. & stays in different hotels this would
be our pick for quality and value by miles. Good location too - around the corner from Collins Street shopping & the wonderful Pelligrinis Cafe - a Melbourne institution (try their delicious watermelon granitas & to die for apple danish!).

  • Liked — Great value for money, wonderful views, natural light, convient location
  • Disliked — water pressure in the shower...

Stayed for the Melbourne Grand Prix 2007 rooms were twice their normal price but we thought still pretty good value. Large open plan living room and dining room with all you could want and big bedroom and bathroom. Good location for the free tourist bus. Not far to anywhere. Very close to china town and I ate one of the best meals I have ever had in Ants.
