Park Squire Motor Inn & Serviced Apartments
Ranked #131 of 162 Hotels in Melbourne
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Stayed at the Park Squire on a Saturday Night and found the hotel to be quite clean and tidy, but in need of a bit of love. The flywire screen on the window had a tear and the building needed a paint, and general maintance to restore it back to a neat building. Value for mone for 2 adults & 1 child @ $120 and free wi-fi.

Would recommend it as long as you know what you are getting in advance. Great location with access to public transport with a Tram Stop out the front and a very short walk to Flemington Bridge Rail Station

We expected to get a budget style apartment for the price so when we checked in Friday night assumed it would be clean but basic.
Check in was fairly uneventful but we were surprised when asked to drive up the footpath to the property next door where our apartment was located. No RH turn so to save driving around a very busy set of streets to get back again they ask you to drive up the footpath. Apartments are next door in an old building - mostly private residents. Our allocated parking spot was tight. Guy from unit 11 left a large scratch in our car but didn't have the decency to leave a note.
2 BR apartment is upstairs in a pretty shabby part of the building. The apartment would have been quite nice when it was first refurbished - ad said recently refurbished - but is showing wear and tear. The ceiling in the master bedroom made me wonder if it would fall in. Massive water stains and cracks and bulging downward. Looks like it could go at any time.
Close to zoo and Hospitals. Tram stop out the front takes 10 minutes to ride to the city.

Room Tip: Inspect first, pictures on website are deceptive.

Totally comfortable and relaxing. A very convenient location with multiple transport options at the door. The staff are helpful and accommodating. Rooms are well appointed, including comfortable heat control. Kitchen functional with all utensils and appliances supplied. We had the benefit of a balcony which was an added luxury. Guest parking was helpful and saved us heaps on taxi fares. $5 dollar breakfast good value. Bathroom could do with an update but was serviceable. One complaint - the locked entry doors to the apartment blocks allow for uncaring guests to let them bang shut, thus disturbing other residents. Good value for money.

Where do I start. The rooms are old. The chairs and carpet in the rooms were stained. Room smelled of cleaning chemicals. Overpriced for what it is. The worst part is the breakfast. The bread is jut pulled from the fridge and used day after day. One loaf of bread was a week past its expiry date an other was 4 days past expiry.

Only good part was the secure parking and checking out!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Me, my mother and my younger daughter stayed here for 3 nights. When we got there we had to ask for the bathroom to be cleaned as the shower obviously been cleaned properly for some months as there was body fat about half way up the shower tiles.
The room definitely needs updating as the carpet was filthy and old the bathroom window screen had dust and grime caked on it from not being cleaned for about a year.
The only positive is that the room was spacious and it was close to the city and tram stops.

Stayed here in January. Found the customer service especially by the old white man at reception to be very lacklustre and in need of a good class in good old fashion friendly Aussie attitude. It would have been a good place to stay back in the 1980's however most motels have moved on and update/renovate as needed. This place decided to stay the same. Stairs need replacing, rooms need complete revamping and basic room service did not even involve a wipe of the bathroom sink or desks/tables in the room some days. It seemed to be a lucky dip. Some of the staff were friendly enough but this didnt make up for the general state of the place.

Stayed here over Christmas and would recommend its good location with easy access to the city. Although the decor is pretty basic, we are provided with the necessary cooking utensils, hotplate stove, microwave and fridge in the serviced apartment. Overall, we enjoy our stay as there were free internet and free undercover parking.

Least attractive is that the internet connection is not stable and tends to cut off every few minutes. Also there isn't a common lounge room in this two bedroom serviced apartment and we need to share one TV in one of the bedroom.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment at the rear to keep away from traffic noise and a room on the lower floors if y...
