Walking walking walking, looking for lunch and not wanting to stop at one of the chains - I just knew I would stumble on a street like this sooner or later - and there is was! A colourful moped with a bunch of flowers on back and cafe after cafe after fabulous cafe on a cobblestone street. We ate in Perkup Burgers - nice meal - sitting at the window watching the world go by. Bliss.

Degraves Street captures the essence of Melbourne's cosmopolitan lifestyle represented through the highly individual restaurants and cafés. A must place to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you are visiting Melbourne or in the city for a day. Close to the Art and shopping precincts it is easy to get and a bit of an oasis from the usual intense pace of the city allowing you to recharge a d soak up the unique atmosphere.

Sat down at one cafe and couldn't get arrested if I had committed a crime. Ghost town. Waiter on the phone up the road. Went to another venue and got ok benedict but French toast tasted like bacon when sweet was ordered. Very disappointed. Will go back to blue train from now on. Spoiled a birthday breakfast
