“mixed use "hotel" big rooms but difficult access”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

I stayed at the Carlton Clocktower the other night (for one night). Because the complex is shared with other businesses (solicitors etc), it was difficult to find a car park (far end of the bottom floor) and the elevator didn't work when I left the next day. The rooms were about 20-30 years old and dated but quite large. The location was terrific, very close to great coffee shops (Brunettis) and restaurants (Doc). Not sure if I'll stay here again through as I prefer a proper hotel with 24 hour reception and easier parking

Had booked this hotel following assurance that it would be wheelchair accessible - had planned to meet up with a friend visiting with his wife the day after our arrival. This place is not wheelchair friendly and we sufferred the hassle of spending 2 and a half hours to find alternative accommodation. Very basic rooms.

Stayed 2 nights and only found out after booking in that there was no maid service on Sundays. OK but the rate should not be the same and it was not declared on the website when booking in.

Is very tired compared to other Quest properties I have stayed at and needs an update.

Three nights in a 2 bedroom apartment, number 18. After reading previous reviews I was not expecting the Ritz and certainly didn't get it. The property is rated 4* and we paid top price as it was during the Grand Prix timing,4* it was not. The furnishings were old, very dated and showing wear, lounge suites were functional vinyl and the dishwasher was the oldest model I have ever seen! But the apartment was clean enough and in working order. Kitchen floor needs replacing please! Kitchen cupboards look dingy and the timber trim is terrible after years of use and no upkeep.
Understandably the owners of these apartments don't want to pay for upgrades if they are getting nearly full occupancy but the other Quest apartments we have stayed in have been excellent. Is it time for Quest to insist on keeping their quality uniform and their good name in lights?
Some of the apartments have had an upgrade of sorts so do we insist on one of these when we book, would that be the way to go? I don't know.
Location fantastic, we walked everywhere, great places to eat. Staff on the front desk were most helpful and very pleasant.
Won't go back there again, far more appealing places around.

The staff were excellent and very friendly. The Apartment was clean, fairly new and well heated - very important for the cold winter month of August. The location is very good for restaurants, taxis and access to public transport. The only drawback was the terrible internet access in the apartment. It is advertised as wireless through separate payment to the JIMOJO wireless service but access was intermitent and when we could get on, it was frustratingly slow. There was no dial up option as a fall back to the poor wireless service. If you need internet in the apartment, you may want to check if they have changed their internet service provider. If you don't need internet, it is a very comforable and convenient place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - the location is always wonderful. Since our last stay a year ago there have been some changes to the property 'freshening it up' a bit - a paint job and some new furniture.
The staff were patient and good humoured in providing directions and information. We had no trouble getting around without the car, and had a ball at Brunettis.
I reccommend staying here as a couple or with a family - as the kitchen is stocked with all the bits and pieces and refrigeration you need to throw together a decent meal (in between dining out on pasta, of course).
Very comfortable stay. Staff excellent. We will be back.

We stayed at the Quest Clocktower for 5 nights in June and really enjoyed the size of the apartment - it is as large as ours at home. It is very well located among many restaurants and although it is older than other places it is clean and large.
