The convenience of stepping onto the Sky Bus and the very short walk to the hotel is fantastic! Then again it's so easy to catch trams from just across the hotel. The staff are great, friendly and very helpfull!Breakfasts are great and having that warm lounge room to come back to is fantastic..Meals at night are great and there are also good places to eat close by.. All in all we will always stay there when we come to Melbourne!,

Room Tip: We had a studio room-fine for us!Maybe a suite might suit others who want a bit more room if they spend a bit more time in their room.

I would happily stay here again. It was really easy to get to from Tullamarine Airport: I just caught the skybus from the airport to the city, then walked a very short distance to the hotel (Im not good on distances, but it only took 5 minutes). The staff were all lovely, and very helpful, and the room was nicely decorated and very clean. They don't have a gym, but give you a free pass to a very large, modern gym just up the street. My only dislike was a very soft bed, which most people would probably like. The staff told me that they can remove the pillow top from the mattress next time I stay. Oh, I also liked that the hotel was very environmentally friendly.

I really liked staying at the Alto - although regret not asking to change rooms. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean, tiny but functional bathroom, great location, reaonable price - but the tiny window in the room overlooked a brick wall just a few metres away and had no natural light. It was a struggle to wake up in the morning, and returning to the room during the day meant the lights had to be on so you could see. I would have appreciated being forewarned that the price was for a room with no natural light - I think I would have paid more for a better room, or looked elsewhere.

I also got an unscheduled early morning call from the restaurant, enquiring about someone else's breakfast, they apologised for mix up, but it kind of stuffs up your day.

I still recommend staying, just ask for the a room with natural light, and unplug the phone, and then it will be a great choice.

The staff were lovely, there is free coffee downstairs, and pleasant stay. Kinfolk cafe over the road near the tram stop is also excellent, its a social enterprise, run by volunteers and the takings go toward public good activities. The food is great.

Room Tip: Room 102 was a bat cave, no/very limited natural light, but reasonably size room, tiny bathroom, spotlessly clean, and everything you need to byo breakfast, etc.

The Alto is our hotel of choice whenever we come to Melbourne. The best location in the CBD, only a hop skip and jump away from everything. Love the environmental edge that the Alto has over the others. The most friendly staff from front counter, to housekeeping, to the restaurant. Always sleep well in the comfy beds. Cannot ask for anything more. Keep up the great work.
