My husband and I had dinner here with our baby, however the food is poor quality, prices are way over the top and the waitresses here kept hovering around us the whole time insisting that we place more orders. They encouraged us to order a special that wasn't on the menu however it was overly priced and just didn't taste good.
Sad experience overall. Even their wine wasn't good

Stumbled into Lucky Chan, when walking along promenade looking for a place to eat lunch. Thought Lucky Chan looked nice, no seating outside for yum cha, understand, but desapointing on such a lovely Melbourne day. However seated at window table.
Excellent fast sevice, an array of yummy delictable treats, all looked and tasted great. Filling and satisfying, though far too much!! Cost was $54 for the two of us with copius amounts of chinese tea. This could of course increase, if ate more. One point, all items writtten in chinese...and no money value in OZ dollar, that could be tricky if on budget. A very enjoyable experience, would however suggest not being seated near the waiters "bus" station, as thier was always someone standing directly by table, felt a little uncomfortable and "watched"
Despite this i would definatley recomend a yummy, fast, pleasent environment for weekday lunch. Spacious, had a ramp for more easy access of those in party needed accesability. Tables were placed at a good distance, not so close you felt on top of eachother, as you can do in some restaurants. Would definatley go back.

We visited this restaurant because it was close to our accommodation. The restaurant was not busy, but we did NOT receive the service you would expect anywhere. We were shown to a table and given menus. After some time a waiter appeared and took our orders. Once the meals appeared we were then totally ignored. After some time the table was cleared, but we were not offered a dessert menu or coffee. We finally asked a passing waiter to get our bill. It would be the worst service we have EVER received at any restaurant ever. Our entrees were enjoyable and my partner's main was nice, but my pan-fried salmon with ginger and soy was a major disappointment. This restaurant is not worth a visit.

My husband and I were looking for something simple and delicious for dinner. We are so happy we tried Lucky Chan. We had lemon chicken, pepper steak and special fried rice. The steak melted in your mouth. In fact you could cut it with a fork. Just the perfect amount of pepper sauce. The lemon chicken was divine as well. We also had banana fritter and deep fried ice cream and although different to what we expected was still beautiful. Highly recommend.

Having dined in multiple yum cha's around Australia and overseas, Lucky Chan is up there with the best. However I have found equally tasty yum cha's for half the price. IIt is probably the rent in at Crown that boost the price. The cheapest yum cha plate is $8, but this is never offered, the next up is $9.50, then $11, then $14. A serve of chinese broccoli or fried squid tentacles in $20+,,, the same in Westlake in Little bourke is $11, with more on the plate and tasting better.
Service at Lucky Chans is variable. But, the dumplings are great, and the trolleys keep on rolling out. Best time to dine for yumcha is lunchtime on Saturdays or Sundays from 1130 on.
