Description: For a 180 degree view of Melbourne's city skyline, Yarra River and Arts Precinct, journey to Taxi Kitchen in Federation Square's Transport Hotel. Hosting cocktail events, a la carte dining, pre-show drinks and boasting three private function dining rooms, Taxi Kitchen dazzles guests with views through floor to ceiling glass windows complemented by earthy tones, indoor greenery and natural light for a clean, semi-alfresco feel. Playful menu items provoke a certain inquisitiveness of guests, charmingly presented on a bed of black pebbles, rustic wooden boards or in colourful, textured dishes. Delight in any or all six courses from seared scallops with red radish, smoked chilli mayo and katiafi to Wagyu porterhouse with creamed potato and jus gras - just be sure to leave room for dessert

“A very enjoyable dinner experience.”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

This is one of the better fine dining restaurants in Melbourne. We really enjoyed the dinner here and the variety of food on offer. The portions as you would expect in a place like this, are not big but the flavours, presentation and service more than make up for it. The location of the restaurant is great (above the Transport bar) in Federation square, it has views of the Yarra, Flinders street, South bank and the arts centre. Will happily come back again.

“Delicious food, lovely view”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The food is very tasty. The buns with smoked salmon are the absolute highlight and highly recommended along with the bitter chocolate marquise dessert. The pan fried gnocchi with lamb and chargrilled spatchcock are also very good. The dishes are designed to be shared so it's a great way to try lots of dishes. The food is much more reasonably priced compared to the previous Taxi Dining Room. Bit of a wait between some of the courses but overall a great place for dinner.

“Melbourne Deserves Better”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

I love the location of this restaurant. The views of Southbank, the church, Flinders street and the Yarra, make this Melbourne's most beautiful restaurant. It has large windows to look out and everyone gets a view. The staff are lovely and attentive. Its the third time we have been here for special occasions and the first as the new "Taxi Kitchen" a more relaxed menu and plates to share. Sounds great.... take those OS visitors.........
But the food is awful. The small plate pork candied, was like eating beef jerky on a bush walk so tough , the prawns with angel hair pasta, so untasty and prawns so soggy like they were still defrosting and the chips, there better and fresher and crispier at "Nandos" said my son! 1 bottle of wine, 3large plates and 2 small plates $80 a head for 3 people. Dont mind the price for prime location but get the food better its embrassing

“Not bad!”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

Food was quite good, place itself lacked in the decor department and was much like the inside of a McDonalds with more expensive menu items. Not terribly memorable.

“Taxi Kitchen previously Taxi Dining Room”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

Just redone and up and running they have gone away from the formal dining to laid back enviroment. The food is fantastic. Starting with small plates, to medium and larger all to share. Great flavours and food and you wont leave feeling unsatisfied. Simon who look after us was great and his suggestions were good. The pork belly, quail and asian coleslaw fantastic. Would recommend and dine again
