“Mexican food and cocktails!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014

OK Mexican food but the cocktails really make it. Since it''s on chapel street expect to pay a little more than usual. Not a bad night out with a bunch of friends.

“Excellent Nachos”

Hadn't eaten Mexican in a while but having tasted Amigos Nachos, it reminded me of how good Mexican food can be.

“Friendly service and excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

Hardware lane, between Bourk street and Lonsdale Street is a mass of restaurants. Ignore the pushy front of house staff and head for Amigos at the north end of the lane. The staff are friendly but not in your face. We were surprised to be given a free sangria drink each for mentioning the we had seen a review of the restaurant in 'Cover' magazine and sort out the place because of that review.
The Mexican style food is tasty and well-cooked. Note this is not the fast food 'Tex -Mex' commonly found in the USA but a more European take on true Mexican food. They offer a variety of 'specials' to vary to menu. We tried the seafood paella which was excellent, and the quesadillas as an entré. In all a very pleasant evening eating outside in the warm Melbourne air, with live music drifting up from further down the lane.

Every time we travel to Melbourne, we have one dinner at Amigos. Great mexican food, and well priced. Good mex cocktails and right on Chapel Street

“Great Tex Mex”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2013

The food at Amigos is straight texmex, but still quite good. Place is very busy and service is very good. Great margaritas and all in all , a good dining experience. Not flashy but good for the price.
