“Not finished and not up to scratch”
Reviewed 16 July 2009

Having read about the upmarket resort (self rated 5 Star)near Cable Beach we booked for 5 days.On arrival we were shown to a different room as our accomodation had not been finished(built) which was not disclosed to us until arrival.
It did not stop there and the minor annoyances of telephone not working,.the toilet flushed all night, there was no Ice or ice tray provided nor was there any compendium outling such basic issues as where the Laundry was located with buiders still hammering didnt help, particularly whe the electricity had to be turned off for the building works the next morning.
The breakfast area was not staffed sufficiently (one staff member) to keep the Buffet supplied.
Finally with 30 degree days no umbrellas were provided around the (small) pool or the guest courtyards as"they were being ordered fom overseas and hadnt arrived"
Needless to say we moved out after one day.

My partner and I had stayed at the Cable Beach Club every year for the past 5 years and over the past two years have been watching this property rise from the bushland that once occupied the site. We made our booking via the hotels website last August and were able to get a great package for 7 nights which included a beautiful breakfast, a dinner under candlelight in the Selene Restaurant and a Spa Treatment in a couples treatment room!!- The reservations department called us a week before we arrived to ask us if we were wanting to get free transfers from the airport and if we wanted to book any tours!! -We were very surprised by this and promptly booked a trike flight. On arrival we were given a complimentary 'mocktail' (very refreshing) and were checked in not at the reception desk but sitting in their loggia on a lounge. The 'resort host' Renee (apparently everyone at this resort is trained to be a resort host right down to the maintenance man) gave us an introduction to the resort and the background behind its name Pinctada which is the mother of pearl shell (its owned by Marilynne Paspaley of the Paspaley pearling family) all it's 'green' features, and an insight into the tours in Broome (I told her that we were regulars for over 5 years to Broome) and then once we finished our drink were escorted to our room overlooking the HUGE pool and were 'introduced' to our room..... (I’m kinda thinking at this stage that Renee has the resorts tag line 'personal moments, endless horizons' permanently etched in her mind when showing us the intelligent lighting system in the room (there’s even a button that says 'goodnight' ) and all the other treats available to us during our stay. After seeing Renee to the door (which opens with the swipe of a key card or by mobile phone) she told us if we require anything (and I mean anything) at all to press the Wizard button on our phone and like magic it will be done!...Armed with this advice we decided to explore the room and all its offerings and were amazed at the attention to detail that had gone into creating this resort. So much easy to use technology – Over 150 High Definition movies on demand, huge HD TV, aircon that knows when you are in the room and adjusts the temperature accordingly, iPod docking station, wired & wireless internet (I was even answering work emails by the pool!), huge bathrooms and even a proper espresso machine in the room - what’s even better is the coffee is free!!! Everyone we came across from the spa through to ‘Tall Shane’ –the resorts property maintenance assistant made us feel as if we were the only people staying there which made us feel like we were ‘at home’. Renaldo from the Brizo pool bar was fantastic and armed with a PDA was able to have our poolside order beamed directly to the kitchen which arrived moments later without a word said to the kitchen! –Amazing and intelligent use of technology right throughout the place all aimed at enhancing the guest ‘experience’ and reducing the resorts overall carbon footprint – and how do I know all this?-I met the Pinctada’s Group IT Manager who happened to hear me asking if we could get to the airport in a hurry for our flight back to Sydney and promptly advised Jen at reception that he would be happy to take us as the concierge had already left with other people for the airport (why do some people take so long to get out the door??!!  ) and promptly found a car which I believe was the owners (Marilynne Paspaley) personal car and got us to the airport in time for our flight. He told us that he had been involved in the development for nearly a year and that no detail was left unconsidered and everything was infinitely planned which the owner always insisted on. He told us that the resort was designed to be calming (which it was) and very much the Broome style albeit 5 star. –I cannot recommend this place enough – we will be coming back next year for sure!
