“A remote "gem"”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

This was our second visit to Beagle Bay to look at the church and it is still a very special place.
Would recommend a visit to anyone holidaying in Broome.
The road Ito Beagle Bay can be a bit rough, so a high clearance or 4 wheel drive vehicle would be recommended.
There is no cost to visit the church, but a donation is appreciated.
There is a well stocked general store at Beagle Bay.

“A tad disappointing”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

The mother of pearl church in the indigenous community north of Broome is touted as a highlight - and certainly there's a lot of mother of pearl inlaid and otherwise decorating the altar, the stations of the Cross, and so forth. It's more a curiosity than an inspiration - worth a cuppa stop on the way to Horizontal Falls, but if we'd just driven over all that soft red dust just to see Sacred Heart Church, would not have gone away satisfied.

“beautiful church”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

Amazing church. Wish I had read Di Morrissey's book Tears of the Moon beforehand so I could explore more and understand the significance of the place.

“A long way to go”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

This little church is lovely but it's a trek to get there.
The altar is absolutely beautiful.
Worth a visit but there is absolutely nothing else to see other than the church once you're there.
