With one week in Australia to do with what we wished we decided to focus on a place neither of us had visited before. Broome came well-recommended and with the season just transitioning from wet to dry the timing could not have been better. We followed TA's advice and booked the Bali Hai and we weren't disappointed. My husband and I love to cook and with the outdoor bbq and small kitchen we had everything we needed to grill steaks and fish to our own tastes and wash them down with some excellent wine from the local bottle shop. The Spa at the Bali Hai is a lovely treat and each afternoon we found a little time to have a quick dip in the pool. This is a good place to base yourself and then venture out in a four-wheel drive to explore the fascinating countryside and coastal roads around. We borrowed an 'Eski' from the hotel and were never short of a cool drink on our travels. This is truly off-road driving and not for the faint-hearted. Our day trip to Kooljaman at Cape Leveque was definitely the highlight, but we also enjoyed sitting on one of the Cable Beach rocks (Eski at the ready) to witness one of the most perfect sunsets I have ever seen.
