Owner description: Perth's favourite playground, the Swan River is a stunning waterway which winds its way from the Darling Scarp to Fremantle. This natural attraction is popular location for Perth locals and visitors to enjoy a day out boating, fishing, skiing, paddling, swimming, picnicking or simply enjoying its vista.Rich in environmental and cultural values, the Swan River was named Derbal Yerrigan by the local Aboriginals who believe that the river was created by the rainbow serpent ‘Waugal’, a dreamtime spirit taking the form of a giant snake. It is believed that the Waugal created creeks, waterholes, lakes and valleys on its journey to the ocean.

There are excellent Cycle tracks along both side of the river in park like locations. I cycled different pars of these tracks on a daily basis and nveer tired of the place. The views of the City from South Perth are fantastic.

Thank martin A

Spectacular views from all the bridges!
But Barrack Street Jetty is under construction - killing noise from 7am to ... I could not imagine how construction noise can be really destroying...

This pretty river runs through lovely Perth and has so many different areas that you can sit and just enjoy the peace and serenity. From Perth foreshore to South Perth foreshore, lovely walking paths take you all around in a complete circle. From Applecross to Bicton and Peppermint Grove, Point Walter reserve all have wonderful places to sit or walk by the river. Sit at a cafe with a great coffee and watch the yachts go by or the other many water sports or just relax on the grass and read a book. So many beautiful spots to enjoy our lovely river.

We sailed up to Fremantle on the Swan river and it was picture perfect. The wharf was full of great quality cafes and we enjoyed the coffee and later lunch.
