During our month in WA we had two separate stays at the Crowne Plaza in Perth - 2 nights at the start and 3 nights at the end and on both occasions our experiences were very good

Having stayed here on a number of occasions we noticed a general 'upping of the game' by the hotel team compared to previous visits.

The service from the reception team was courteous and efficient, the bar staff were friendly, but the highlight was the concierge team, especially John, who always went 'the extra yard' to ensure everything was perfect for all members of our family

Breakfasts are good and we ate twice in the evening and on both occasions the food was of a good standard - the second meal coincided with a large private function held for the visiting Ashes Cricket press (the hotel was full due to the cricket taking place around the corner from the hotel). Service as a result was slow but in recognition of this all hotel guests were given free wine throughout the meal - a nice touch

Summary

Yes the fabric of the hotel could do with a bit of up dating ( it looks as though there is some on going improvements taking place) but this is more than made up for by the friendly staff and good service.

Overall a pleasurable stay - we will return to the Crowne Plaza when next in Perth.

Recently just stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Perth. The hotel is easily accessible and has rive views of Swan River. On arrival we used the Vallet Parking sort out the parking for our car which cost around $30 a day. We then proceeded to check in which we booked two rooms and they over looked the booking of one, which became a concern. We pulled our itinerary out and they immediately checked in our second room, no problems at all. We went to our floor and looked at our rooms. One had just a double bed the other had 2 double beds. The rooms are very large for hotel rooms in Perth. Though the rooms are very dated. The bathroom looks like it was there in the 80's. The hotel is smoke free and has a courtyard for smokers. Also it has a gym and pool located on the 3rd floor. The pool is a infinite pool. Its very windy up there though and you wont wont to spend much time in the pool. The hotel is about 20min walk from the CBD. A bit out of the way. Overall its value for money and better then allot of hotels in Perth

Dear Lucas M,

Thank you for commenting on your recent stay at Crowne Plaza Perth. We apologise for any unnecessary inconvenience caused by not identifying your second room to complete your party at the time of check in. We are pleased you found our location was a contributing factor in your experience and agree yes at times it can be windy as the 'Fremantle Doctor' comes in late afternoon or earlier depending on the ambient temperature to our East.

We look forward to welcoming you again when you are next in town.

Best regards and a Happy New Year.

Had the hump with the travel agent over this one, I had asked for a room with balcony, high up and overlooking the Swan River. We got the balcony alright but a view of a wall and since the place was otherwise fully booked we were stuck with it. Since this was only for one night we shrugged it off.
What impressed me was the genuine concern from the staff that we weren't too pleased and amends were made by Charlotte in reception and Ashleigh and her staff in the restaurant when we were treated to a complementary full breakfast. Thoroughly nice people and a very good breakfast! Would certainly return.

Room Tip: Try to get a river view on a high floor.

Dear Hunry Horace S,

We can understand your disappointnment with the obstructed view you experienced on this visit, in most circumstances it would have been our pleasure to have made the necessary change to your room allocation unfortunately as you know this was not possible at this time. We do however appreciate your comments around our colleagues whom you found helpful and understood your feelings on this occasion. Hopefully we can be more accommodating when you next return , please specify a premium room to avoid any disappointment; we look forward to welcoming you again.

Best regards

Was booked into this hotel by my company's for 2 nights and found it very basic.

The property is old and was probably built in the 70s or 80s and had the felling of staying in a local motel! The rooms were ok , had all the basics and were clean enough (although the grouting could be re-done in the bathrooms.)

The gym was embarrassing , and should not be called one, the equipment is limited, rusted and I don't think ever serviced, the pool was closed for renovation but not sure this would make the place feel or look any better.

The service at reception was ok but they could not find my membership number, even though a fee days earlier I had stayed with their company in Auckland and they had no problem to look up my reward membership number.

The service in the lobby bar was friendly but note efficient, they did not seem to be prepared for service and had to often get things like lemon or lime from the kitchen or run out of supplies.

My colleagues all agreed we would not stay in this property on our return to Perth as it was disappointing.

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel again as it has a balcony (not many hotels in Perth have one) and the views are amazing.
However this time, we were given a room on the 3rd floor. All we could see was the pool and the people in it. We couldn't even open our curtains at all because we felt as if we were in a fish bowl.
We were looking at the people swimming and they were looking at us. There was no privacy whatsoever.
So very disappointed, i paid extra for a king room with a view. We never even went out on the balcony and felt like we were prisoners in the room.
We were told upon checking in there were no other rooms available. So we had to put up with the room they gave us. It certainly wasn't a king room with a view of the river. You could not see past the swimming pool.
Very disappointing

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room higher than the third floor.

Reception staff confused our check out process and took a long time to process it correctly...especially when you are in a hurry to get to the airport.

The staff then could not figure out how to unlock the hand brake in our car (simple push of a button) and struggled to pack 3 suitcases into the boot.

The room was nice, view of the Swan river and balcony was a nice touch. Bed was comfortable.
TV was confusing to get to normal tv channels.

Dear Lauren P,

We apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced as we seem to have compounded your departure from the Hotel. We do understand effeciency and respect for time is this area is important. No doubt we now also have a better understanding in how to dislodge the parking brake in the model of car you were driving; all makes of cars can be different and sometimes these things escape us. We do appreciate your comments around the guest room experience and delighted you enjoyed the views of the park and river from your balcony. We look forward to welcoming you again when you are next in Perth for business and at which time I believe we can demonstrate the delay you experienced in checking out was an isolated incident.
