“Would not recommend. Very overpriced.”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

After 1 weeks stay on business. Cockroaches in kitchen. Probably entered the kitchen through a gap behind the sink which was thick with crumbs and other horrid stuff. When reported to reception, in person, the response was "Gee thats not good". Needless to say nothing was done. Room not serviced until requested. When finally taking place the making of the bed was the only service that took place. Rubbish was left & towels were not replaced. Bathroom so in need of repair the inch thick silicon behind the basin was thick with mold as were the basin & bath plugs. A shelf fitting in the shower was missing. Obviously broken and never replaced as the fittings were still there to hold the shelf.

Stains on furniture fabric.

No shower gel.

Breakfast snack box supplied was out of date by 2 months.

The pool water level was at least 45cm below what it should have been making it virtually impossible to swim properly.

When checking out be absolutely sure if you have not used anything from the minie bar as on two occasions now i have returned home to find days later i have been charged for items not used.

A great set up in the two room ground floor apartment for a one week stay. Comfortable and very high standard of cleaning service. Not one ounce of decor in this room but excellent size and space with kitchen and laundry facilities. Good location for driving around or free public bus use easily accessible at the next block. Easy walking to attractions like the Pert Mint, shopping and restaurants for lunch and dinner. The pool on the top floor is very well maintained and has a good view. Worth a stay.

The hotel is well appointed, unfortunately the location could be a let down for some people. There is a bus service which takes you into town, thankfully.

There isn't much within close proximity, so if you are wanting restaurants, cafes, bars etc, this isn't the place.

Parking isn't guaranteed, there are limited bays.

Heating didn't work in the apartment we stayed in, so it was a tad chilly.

I would only stay here again from absolute necessity, there are better choices closer to the city.

Hi Tangojo

Thank you for taking time out of your day to provide feedback of your experience at Mantra on Hay.

Whilst we are a leisurely 10-15 min stroll to the city centre and the many restaurants, cafes and bars on offer we are in close proximity Queens Gardens, Burswood Complex, NIB Stadium, Swan River and even the iconic Bell Tower.

With regards to parking you are correct in that we do have limited bays and unfortunately at times does inconvenience our guests.

My apologies to you regarding the heatin issue you had and i will certainly liaise with the Manintenance Manager to ensure this is rectified.

The location of the Mantra on Hay was perfect for my group of 3 as we were easily able to walk to the CBD and cafes or catch the free Red CAT bus service that runs down Hay st to the CBD and train stations. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and our 2 bedroom, 3 person apartment with kitchen was clean and had plenty of room for us.
The only negative was some dirty marks on the ceiling which could be cleaned off if someone noticed them. However I would definitely recommend the mantra on Hay for a Perth visit if you want something spacious and low key which is not far from the city.

My colleague & I stayed 2 nights on business in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. We also needed guaranteed secure parking due to equipment in the car. We arrived only to discover parking was a fist in basis. The room was at best average to poor, the beds and bathrooms were clean but the carpet was filthy & stained. No hair dryer. The kitchen floor was sticky and the kitchen benches were filthy with large burnt out chips in the laminex. The lounges were badly stained, dirty walls and the aircon sounded likea jet engine & had all the vents blocked up with cardboard as it blew too hard in the bedrooms. Staff were good, restsurant was convenient and ok but at $380 a night it was a dump to come back to after a 14 hr day working. I'll never stay there again.

Room Tip: Go to to a real hotel.

I stayed at Mantra on Hay for 3 nights. It's about half an hour ride by taxi from the airport which cost about A$40/-. This apartment is self-contained with all that you need to set up a home. There are 2 rooms with 1 king and 1 queen beds. It's very convenient with the free Red Cat bus stop at the side of the hotel. About 4 or 5 stops away is the main city mall and Perth station. Opposite there's Carlton Centre with a Singapore/Malaysia Restaurant and a supermarket. On the 1st floor there's a restaurant offering daily set lunch (changes weekly) for only A$10/- if you find it a hassle to cook. On the top floor which is the 8th there's a indoor swimming pool and a gym. I find this hotel very convenient and will surely stay again if I ever return to Perth.

Room Tip: Choose the 8th floor if you are using the gym and pool daily.

Perfect family accommodation for our Perth stay. Best value for families considering Perth accommodation is sooooo expensive. Spacious, well equipped apartments. Perfect for our 2 yo toddler with lots of space. The apartments were exactly as they are in the photos - clean, well maintained, comfortable furnishings and beds. All we needed. Good location with supermarkets just around the corner. We had a car and paid to use car park - $25/d. Near lovely parks for kids - one down the road or quick drive to excellent Kings Park. Staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. Maria was always very helpful. One night we had a noisy party next door, walls are not very sound proof. But the staff dealt with it to our satisfaction. My husband had stayed at apartment suites near the convention centre rated more highly on Tripadvisor on a business trip a month prior and thought Mantra apartments were far better quality (they were cheaper too during our stay).
