The location is convenient to the city but the rooms are pretty small. The shower rail in the bathroom was pretty rusty and the ventilation vent was quite dirty. Be careful of the bath spout which is much longer than it needs to be posing a risk to hitting your leg. The pizza's are pretty ordinary.

The Mercure front entrance in Irwin street is far from impressive but once you get inside it does get much better. It is still not the most modern and wonderful hotel you might have seen but it is certainly a good choice, especially for the business traveller.
A wide range of facilities are available in the hotel. Also on the ground floor you will find a bar and restaurant. The restaurant offers a good menu.
The room I got was nice but the bathroom was a nit old. It sure was all very clean but just a bit old style tiles. Not my taste.
Internet availability in the hotels in Australia is most of the time expensive. Here at the Mercure there is no exception to this. Prices are high and data limits very low. 30mb for two hours or 100mb for one day is a bit of a joke these days. But in the lobby and restaurants you can get 30 minutes or 8mb for free.

The stay was very good. The only comment would be that the ice block tray had 2 small holes in it (which the cleaning staff would not notice) but we certainly did when we found the bottom of the fridge with a pool of water. Apart from that, no complaints at all.

The service was terrific. I was upgraded to a suite at no extra cost which was fantastic. The only down side is that I arrived at the hotel too late in the evening to really enjoy it. Next time I will get there earlier to really appreciate it.

The Mercure is conveniently located within 5 minutes to the heart of town. This is the only positive thing that I can say about this hotel.

Firstly this Hotel is not cheap. I paid British Pounds 386 for three nights and expected some basic returns.

The rooms are poorly maintained. Shoddy paint jobs and furniture touch up. The bed was clumsy and badly made up. Very bad insulation and the cold swept through the room. Take a look at the pictures and you will see rubber beading that has peeled off the windows, drawing in the cold. Also in the picture you will see piles of dirt accumulated on the window.

There was a thick coat of fluff every where. Bad filtering I guess. Leave your jacket or your evening dress out for half an hour you will be shocked. I got delayed for a business meeting because of this issue.

There is no private locker in the room. Also no moisturizer and no shower gel. Just plain soap and shampoo.

The guy at the concierge was absolutely grumpy and had no clue about names of bus stops and gave vague directions.

Breakfast is AUD$ 28 per person. Skip this and within 100 hundred meters you will find several cafes and you get BF for half the price.

Why would I want to stay here again.

This was yet another stay in Perth with a small space and limited views in a city with lots of space and many river frontage views. The bed was comfortable but was the smallest Queen size bed we have seen. The bathroom was difficult to use as the shower over the bath allowed water to escape onto the main floor area. Lighting over the basin was flourescent and unflattering. The view was over an alley full of waste bins with collections early in the morning being noisy. Location close to the city malls makes this an average place to stay.
