“Spacious apartments”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2010

Spacious apartments with well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Good sized rooms and living area. Couches are some of the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in and I think they really could do with replacing.

The pool area was nice and parking was free, which is a bonus in the CBD. We would stay there again if we could get a good rate

We stayed at Mont Clare apartments over the weekend for a few of nights to relax and be close to the city.
Our room was very spacious and clean. They have everything from a dish washer, clothes washer and dryer to all kitchen utensils. Also has FOX TV and nice flat screen TV. It was set up like home. the bathroom was nice and big too.
A free public bus is located right outside the apartment complex which made it easy to get into the city. but it's only a short 5-10min walk into the city anyway. Also only one block away from the River. Nice place to visit at night with a bottle of wine and cheese.
The apartment block also had a nice big pool area. was clean and warm. they also had a gym which looked good too. We didn't use it, but they seem to have a lot of equipment to use which also looked over the pool.
We were given one car bay for our stay too. It's in a nice secure complex and was undercover.
nice cafe's and restuarants (and hidden trendy bars) are only seconds away from the front door and it's only a 2-5 min walk to the WACCA Ground and a beautiful park with a lake.
Mont Clare apartments was a very enjoyable stay. we will tell our friends and family about this place, as it has everything you need at a great price. We will stay here again, especially during the cricket season, as it's only up the road.

This hotel was better than i expected. We stayed there for 5 nights and could have stayed longer. The apartment had everything you could want and was clean, well equipped and in a good location. Parking was secure and on site and the pool looked nice although we didn't get the chance to use it, we were too busy. The location is on Hay Street but only just, its about a 10 minute walk into the center. Its no bother though i managed it quite easily in very uncomfortable shoes!

I somehow didn't manage to find the bad reviews on this place, and only found 2 reviews both saying the reviewers liked the hotel.

We should have known we were not going to enjoy this hotel from the moment we had to check in. On Saturday's the reception closes at 2:30pm (however check in cannot commence until 2:00pm). A caretakers mobile number is on the front doors, however when I tried to phone the number it has incoming call restrictions. I ended up phoning the emergency number and got through to someone who helped us find our keys and room info.

We then had to try and work out which carpark (there are 2) our allocated bay was in as they do not let you know which one you are meant to be in (one is off Hay Street, the other you have to drive around the block). Eventually, after about 15 minutes we found our bay in the 2nd carpark.

I quickly learned we had been booked into the 6th floor. The lift access only goes as far as the 5th floor. This wouldn't have bothered me, if we hadn't of been travelling with our 3 young children (one of those under the age of 1). It was a nightmare trying to get our luggage plus a pram, portacot and the kids up the stairs. That is after we realised the stairs infront of the lift actually go up to 6th floor. It is not signposted anywhere and the door has a sign only saying fire escape. We only realised as someone happened to come down the stairs at the time and we asked if that was where the 6th floor was.

The room itself (2 bed, 1 bath apart) was quite nice and was a decent size. You could easily have 2 couples staying there. The kitchen is quite a decent size and the bedrooms were big enough for us. I liked that it had the washer/dryer, made washing the kids clothes easy. I wouldn't say it was the cleanest. The majority was clean, but there was hair on the floor in the bathroom and the bedside table in the kids room was dirty.

The balcony however was tiny, it also didn't feel very safe. One bang with your foot and you hear the concrete echo. We didn't allow the kids out on the balcony, but to be honest it was that tiny we all wouldn't have fit. Our balcony did overlook the pool, which at first glance we assumed it couldn't possibly be the pool for Mont Clare. It looked like it had 'black spot' and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. During our stay we went and had a look at the pool, there is no way it was heated like it states on their website. Our pool at home which doesn't have heating is warmer than this one. The kids were quite disappointed as one of the reasons we chose Mont Clare was because the pool was apparantly heated and they were looking forward to going for a swim.

Upon reading the guest information folder in the room, we realised you are expected to empty your own rubbish bin before your depart. I have never stayed anywhere that requires this. Surely that's what the housekeeping staff get paid to do?

The Mantra on Hay is just over the road. We were originally going to book there, but some of the reviews stated their walls were thin. We wished we had booked there it looked so much nicer, thin walls would have been much more pleasant that the numerous times we had to get the pram back up those stairs with our baby. During dinner at K on Hay (next to the Mont Clare, at the Comfort Hotel) we considered booking an apartment at Mantra on Hay and cutting our losses with the Mont Clare.

The Mont Clare is probably about 15-20 minutes walk (not the 7 minutes quoted on their website) to the shopping malls. The free CAT buses stop outside the hotel so no need to walk if you don't want to. We drove to most of the places we went to anyway. There's a few restaurants within walking distance and a small supermarket just up the road. There are also a couple of car rental places over the road.

We've stayed at quite a few places in Perth over the years, however never with the kids. So far Mont Clare is the only place we wouldn't go back to. It is a shame Perth is limited in affordable family accommodation.

We had already departed one motel very disappointed, so we tried another, the Mont Clare Apartments. Ok so Perth has a casual atmosphere but can anyone clean a bathroom to an average acceptable level in WA. On first impressions ok, but look a bit further and you will find floors that need a good wash/scrub, tables that need a good clean and the bathroom was not much better than the last accommodation that we stayed at and the cost at Mont Clare was nearly double. I expected more.

The apartments were clean but not particularly well stocked for cooking which is very frustrating when you don't have what is required. Location is OK although on the edge of the City. Not luxury by any means and we received a very good deal pay 2 stay the 3rd night for $10 I certainly feel without any special deal it was over priced. You would also need to hire a car to get anywhere. Balcony is so tiny so pretty useless cannot sit outside - furnishings were OK nothing special.

Was very pleased with the apartments. Clean, efficient, friendly staff. There's also a pool for kids! And gym as well. Just a stone throw from Hay St Pedestrian Mall. Very convenient. Numerous food places and supermarkets around. Value for $$. Secure car parking. No complaints!! :)
