When traveling alone, I don't want to pay more than $100 per night so the Ambassador was nearly the only choice in Perth apart from a few options further from the cbd. I booked online early and got an Easter special deal [$93p/n]. No complaints about that! I booked a 5 night stay. The service was friendly and efficient. The room was as expected. Comfortable and clean without luxuries. They are constantly renovating by the looks of things - and other reviews here - so sleeping in or just hanging about in the room after 8 or 9am wasn't much fun. I asked for the quietest room they could give me yet at 8am there were building noises from the room right next door. I appreciate the need to maintain and upgrade but they could have put me somewhere else without any bother. Never mind, I got up and went out! problem solved. Used the wifi a lot which was strong but stalled frequently. I would have liked to use the gym but the room is locked at night. The carpark is outside and to the rear of the hotel. It seems odd that they charge $12 per night for guests to park on their own property. This turned $93 into $105 per night for me. Something to think about when on a budget. I would recommend this hotel for short stays where price and location are important. Not a luxury stay but certainly not a horror story either.

This has to be the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a lot.
I don't really know where to start, after renting a car and being told parking was available at the Hotel, we were then told the car park was closed to renovations. The laundry was also closed for renovations and the staff were unhelpful. The hotel is old and dirty, the rooms were especially dirty from mold in the fridge to the bathrooms. curtains to carpets were filthy and I really don't know what to say about the blood stained linen and insects.
The lifts were noisy, as were the police evictions /arrests in the early hours of the morning.

Having said all that the food was value for money and the staff in the restaurant were terrific.

Room Tip: Use a different hotel....

It's not a glossy or glitzy kind of a hotel and that suits me fine.
The rooms are basic and importantly clean.
Wifi is can be accessed in all the rooms and that's a huge plus.
There's a carpark round the back; other reviews describe it adequately.
The lifts could be better but it's not a show stopper.

The staff are good and so's the b/fast.

The one downer is that I had confirmed a late checkout w the reservation staff and he had conveniently not informed anyone about it. That was mildly irritating coz if the elbow and the derriere don't talk, I wouldn't want to be inconvenienced about it.

Any hotel that charges under $200 per night in Perth CBD is considered cheap these days. Parking is $12 per night where the parking lot is essentially an open gravel lot at the back of the hotel. There are no bell hops, so be prepared to lug your cases to the decrepit elevators that are frighteningly slow.

The showers are mouldy, the tiles are cracked and the carpets are in desperate need of a steam clean. The sheets were clean but the mattresses were old and gave me a sore back after the first night. We stayed for 3 nights, which was more than enough. We knew what we were in for given the low room rates, but for out-of-towners who fly into Perth hoping to score a Cheap-but-Good, you're better off looking elsewhere. However, if you're just after a 'cheap' place to stay within Perth CBD, this will do the trick.

Stayed for two nights in room 224 for 2 nights. I wouldn't stay here again. We dropped of our luggage early reception for them to look after, when we returned luggage was still in reception not in a luggage room. They ststed they always leave luggage there as they are thier 24/7 yet once when walking through reception during our stay we noticed no one at the front desk. The carpark was closed off for a delivery so was told we would have to find alternative parking for our car and we werent told earlier despite specifically stating we needed car parking. Others also returned to just find the car park closed and had to ask reception why as no signs posted as to why. The beds are very very soft and not very comfortable at all. The noise from the hotel means you are woken early by noise from what sounded like the cleaners starting at around 5am and from being right next door to thrifty car rental they start washing cars around 6am and you can hear their high pressure water hoses. So if your not an arely riser I wouldn't stay here. Also when i asked a staff member questions about the city and attractions they didnt have any knowlege them. I would think working in a hotel you would know something about Perths top attractions at least. Location was good within walking distance to mall and Perth Mint and pubs and cafes.

We stayed here for 2 nights before our international flight. We had a rental car and needed safe parking. We were informed on the second night that we had to park on the street,as trucks needed the hotel parking for renovations(badly needed). We needed to leave at 3 am and we were expected to walk down the road to our car at 3am.We kicked up a fuss and they said the only available parks were for staff!!.Eventually the manager was called and low and behold we could park in the hotel carpark after all.Not the poor girls fault at reception ,she's just doing what she's told. Not a good impression as if we hand,t been so forceful we would have been parking and walking in Perth city at 3am.
The rooms are very dated ,peeling coating in bathrooms, stains on carpets and generally tatty rooms.Though the room service was good we will look elsewhere next time we stay in Perth.
