“Beautifully renovated boutique hotel”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

This beautiful older style boutique hotel is right there on the edge of the CBD - walking distance to everything. The rooms are smaller than modern upmarket hotels but the addition of floor to ceiling mirrors along one wall (in our room, anyway) made it perfectly adequate. A nice modern ensuite completed the set up. Yes, the rickety stairs are a bit of a problem with heavy cases but there is (a rickety!) old lift if required! Front of house staff were very accommodating with our very early arrival and throughout our brief stay. The included buffet breakfast was sensational and consisted of everything you could desire - and more! We had experienced the smorgasbord dinner on an earlier visit to Perth and certainly looked forward to this return visit, and we weren't disapointed. This has to be the best place to eat in Perth - and for what you are offered, very reasonable. The whole experience was first class and recommended without hesitation.

This is by far one of the lowest priced hotels with exceptional value and customer care. The design is by far one of the most interesting with a touch of good old Australia and a very warm welcome. The hotel is very clean and very well maintained with the rooms being spotless and staff by far the most friendliest I have have ever met. We had a small problem in our room and we were immediately transferred to a new room without any questions asked.

We stayed here at the recommendation of a relative after a tiring return from an overseas trip. Friendly service at reception but managing the stairs with heavy suit cases to get to our room was almost too much. Rooms very clean and well maintained. As per usual these days pillows too thick! We ordered a light meal in the restaurant the evening we arrived which was very disappointing. The smorgasbord breakfast was excellent, in particular the range and quality of the pastries and breads which are baked in their own bakery. We did not eat another evening meal there but observed many people eating the smorgasbord that evening so it is obviously very popular.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a level with a lift if you have heavy suitcases.

Stayed here for two nights and found it to be a clean well maintained hotel in a central location with a superb breakfast!! Just wish front of house staff could be more welcoming and helpful. When you arrive in a city after a long flight it would be nice to have someone pleasant to advice you where you can go or what you can do until the rooms ready. However on check out l did see a more mature receptionist doing her best to help guests with their cases and generally being interested in them. Perhaps she could pass some of her customer care skills on to her colleagues!!

Miss Maud Swedish Hotel was very good value, we were advised to take the mid week special of Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and that was a good choice. There was so much choice at both dinner and breakfast. We had one of the balcony rooms and it was very pleasent, the beds were comfy, had a large bathroom and it was quiet at night, and the lift was so quaint!!
The staff were excellent especially Danny in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Take a balcony room

Stayed here for 4 nights towards the mid - end September. Hotel prices in Perth are outrageous so the price here, which includes a huge breakfast selection, is good value for money. Although our room was not large it was very comfortable and clean. The hotel is well located being just outside the main city centre but still an easy stroll to the centre for shopping and public transport. staff could have been a bit more animated but they did their job efficiently. If you want a well located clean hotel at a fair price you could do far worse than Miss Mauds

Stayed there for 4 nights (13-16 July 2013). Friendly staffs, comfortable rooms with big mirrors and a fabulous spread for breakfast. Like the old fashioned lift - youd coudn't find it anymore nowadays! Would definately recommend others to stay here
