First impression was not that great, the need to walk up the road to the restaurant for breakfast and the small rooms with limited windows (ours was a small window high up on the wall) but the hotel has an endearing quality that grows on you and after a day or two feels really homely. Probably not one for the executive business visitor but great when on a break.

It was my first visit to Perth and just a layover to break the long flight to Adelaide. All I wanted was a comfortable bed and good bathroom. Miss Maud gave me this and more.

Upon arrival at the Perth Airport T1 I boarded the CONNECT shuttle (AU$15) and was dropped at its fourth scheduled stop within 100m of the hotel. The drop-off spot was also the collection point for the return trip to Terminal 3 the next day. Miss Maud is a quaint, “olde world”, establishment on Murray Street, within walking distance of the CBD shops, malls, banks and eateries. After check-in, it was into the tiny elevator with two manual doors that clattered shut forcing me to squeeze against my suitcase before if jerked its way to the second floor. After a quick shower in the voluptuous and well-provisioned shower in the small, but comfortable roof garden room, I changed into shorts and wandered inquisitively around the shops and other retail temptations. Being a Friday afternoon it was abuzz with vibey and busy pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. The square opposite the nearby post office was a hive of activity with stalls being erected for evening outdoor entertainment – very appropriate, given the 35°C heat.

Then it was back to the Miss Maud where I tried to connect to the free Wi-Fi to catch up with my mail. My PC wouldn’t cooperate (not the hotel’s fault, but Windows 8), and the only blemish on the total experience was that the receptionist on duty was clueless on anything computer and could not provide the SMTP setting for e-mail - in fact had no idea what this was nor who to consult.

The next day I left at 5am, breakfast box in hand, with, inter alia, “homemade” pastries kindly provided for me and headed for the CONNECT shuttle once more. I was sorry to miss, from the pictures in the brochure, what appeared to be a decadent buffet breakfast that was included in the tariff.

Definitely a keeper for another visit.

The best - The staff were attentive, the food fantastic, place very clean and tidy. Food fantastic. Great central location.
Not so good - Older style building meant that corridor noise meant sleeping was disturbed at times
I would stay again just to enjoy the best.

Room Tip: I chose a standard room, perhaps a more up market room would provide a better night sleep

First time for me to stay in this hotel. I had been many times in Perth and had never notice this hotel.
It is small and nice. Good location near the centre but in a quiet area and near two car parks. The breakfast was as good as it was expected.

Clean, friendly, and really good buffet breakfast I found the staff to be very helpful as I am not very conversant with Perth city, the only thing I found rather worrying was the lift appeared home-made and took off with a jolt had alarm bells on board and on each landing I think they may have had problems with it in the past and only took two persons maximum. but I had no problems. The breakfast was first class. all in all a really nice hotel.

Miss Maud's is a small hotel with a lot of character, it is centrally located on Murray st near to the shopping malls and a short walk to the cultural precinct. The rooms are very comfortable with good air-conditioning, tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar. Some rooms have balconies. Breakfast is included with a buffet with pastries, fruit and hot food. I was hoping for herrings and more Swedish fare but that didn't seem to be on offer. The emphasis is more on the fresh pastries from the attached bakery. There's also a lovely roof garden with tubs of organic produce.

Just got back from a short stay in Perth staying in this lovely boutique hotel. Great, friendly staff that made us feel at home. Excellent location with just a short walk to either the river of the city's main attractions. Rooms are more than adequate (with excellent wi-fi connectivity), would have no hesitation in recommending this place.
