“A good start in WA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2012

We arrived at 3am after a long flight and found the 2nd last parking place and a warm welcome. The room was a bit basic at the edges but had everything we needed and the wifi worked well. The location is excellent – sort of under the botanic gardens and right by a CAT stop where free buses take you to the middle of town and Northbridge – good for restaurants etc. The CATs stop around 7.30pm so if you’re eating in Northbridge get going early. It’s around 30 minutes to walk back. They do an excellent continental breakfast, well worth the money. Parking is tight but King's Park is a steep walk from close to the hotel. With the A$ very high vs Sterling it seemed a little on the dear side but when we tried for a Perth hotel room later in our trip we realised it was something of a bargain.

This was the cheapest hotel we could find for a one night stay, in Perth. It's next to King's Park, but other than that it's away from anything else (though the free Blue Cat Bus stop is right outside the front door.).From the foyer, you think you are in a hip-city hotel, until you get to your room (there was a distinct smell of sewerage in the hallway). Small shabby room in need of a repaint, with a very small window looking into the building next door. The bathroom was tragic and tiny. No wifi in rooms - some problem with their internet while we were there. The only redeeming feature was the staff - very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in the restaurant - food was okay but a bit on the expensive side.

A return trip to what must be the only reasonably priced hotel left in Perth. Only 3* but it ticks all the important boxes, and, where do you check into a hotel which offers FREE WIFI !!!
Prices in Perth are now crazy & with Sullivans only 10mins from the City, Kings Park & 5mins from Jacobs Ladder for the fitness freaks nobody should be disappointed.

Room Tip: Nothing particular re rooms except I used BA Avios points for the reservation.

I had to work in Perth for a few days and sought something close to where I worked, but close enough to the city for my wife to shop or go to Kings Park.

I used to stay at the Duxton or the Chifley, but that was a few years ago. Perth accommodation at present (September 2012) is over 80% occupancy - meaning prices are high regardless - and some places have trebled or quadrupled their rates for the same sort of accommodation in in other cities.

Sullivans seemed a happy medium - not too astronomical in price for our stay (4 nights) - and close to most things.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful on arrival. Things were pointed out, nothing seemed to much trouble, we had free WiFi, and the room, although compact, was comfortable and very clean. Our bathroom light blew on the first night, and was changed within 5 minutes by Marissa (who had to manage the desk as well).

The location is very good - the free Blue CAT bus has a stop right outside the hotel and runs frequently - though less so on weekends. Kings Park is behind the hotel - admittedly a climb up some frighteningly long stairs. If taxis are your choice Sullivans do have a free phone to call one (but I'm not too pleased with the taxis, as we had trouble getting one more often than not. Hmmmm)

Food choices are very good. The continental breakfast is excellent. Good quality cereal, fruit (fresh & stewed), juices, cold meats & cheese, scones, jams, toast, coffee, teas (big selection). A nice view. For $15 its much better value than most places. We had dinner in a couple of times too - the choice was quite good, food good, and the prices not over the top.

The room we had was fine. A little small, but clean & functional. The air conditioner could do with an update - a little noisy. Road noise is a problem as you are on Mounts Bay Road with everyone going in/out of the city at peak hour. Close your window (thats rare), put in some ear plugs and its fine.

Sullivans makes up for the Perth price premium with excellent service and attention to detail.

Location! Location! Location! Price! Price! Price! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sullivans. Close to all the great locations - Barrack Jetty, next door to Kings Park, adjacent to the river, just the right distance from the City centre, bus stop right outside. Service could not be faulted and prices for meals are well priced compared to similar hotels I have stayed at, at home is Australia and abroad. Look no further.

I have stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The hotel is a bit dated and the room is small but tidy and clean. It is on the fringe of the CBD and takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city. Free CAT bus is available in front of the hotel which is handy, but don't trust the bus time table. Kings park is just at the back of the hotel and is very worthwhile to go. The hotel is sitting on a busy road. It is quite noisy in the day time but OK in the evening. In consideration of the expensive hotels in Perth, this one is value for money if you don't demand too much.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back to avoid noise from the main road
