We ( 2 Adults Mr & Mrs)stayed at the Sullivan’s Hotel for 8 nights in July 2014 we had come for a short very hurriedly booked trip to Perth for the funeral of my Auntie, it was also my birthday the day before the funeral.
Me being the only blood relative attending the funeral had a lot of running about with paperwork etc & had to clear Aunties room at the nursing home too. So not for a holiday.
We arrived at the hotel at 10.30 am & did not expect the room to be ready, we just wanted to dump our suitcases & get a cup of tea after the very long journey from the UK.
The lovely receptionist welcomed us & told us to get a cup of tea from the breakfast room which was just being cleared up. The room would be ready by 12.
We had our tea & went for a walk, there is a lake opposite & so we had a walk round that in the sunshine.
Room 418 on 4th floor was compact but comfortable, tea & coffee stuff provided & a fridge with a bottle of cold water & glasses in it. The view was of the next door hospital & we could actually see into the hospital patients windows. There was building work going on at the hospital & so early mornings we were woken by the noise.
If I’d have realized how small the standard rooms were I probably would have booked a bigger room for 8 nights.
Free parking & Wi Fi although parking is a bit of a battle, we managed to get parked every night, but many didn't as there are not enough spaces for number of guests.
The hotel has a lovely restaurant & the breakfasts, choice of continental buffet or cooked was good, we breakfasted 4 times & had dinner 5 times. The last meal was free from the manager of the hotel, Jean-Denis. & I hadn't even complained about anything.
Evening food was beautifully cooked & well presented, & they weren't fazed when i wanted to change anything on the menu, waiting staff were helpful & polite, the only thing we did not like was that dinner plates are removed before both of us had finished our meal, one was still eating, and they should be left till both finished.
All the staff in the hotel were friendly & polite & we would defiantly recommend anyone to stay there, the hotel is central for everything, short walk or free bus into the city & by car only minutes to the freeways. Weather was not good while we were there, but we did have a nice evening walk to Kings Park one night.
Sadly this will probably be the last time we will go to Perth as we have been many times & used to go to stay with my Auntie & use her house as a base for our Australian adventures.
If we did ever come again we would defiantly stay here again, but not in the Oz winter!
