Nothing fancy about the room. But it's good value for your money. Spacious enough room with a separate kitchenette and ensuite bathroom. Only problem was there's no heating in the bathroom and kitchenette. No problem for the kitchenette since it gets warm when you cook but it can be quite cold in the bathroom. Very well-equipped kitchenette allows you to cook up a good meal. Downside: strange electric kettle that doesn't have a lid you can open to look inside. You fill it through the spout. So... you don't know how dirty it is inside or if there's some dead insect there. And the bed was rather squeaky.

I stayed in the one bed room with kitchenette for two nights during the Easter weekend.. The bedroom, kitchen, toilet were clean. The kitchen has good facilities. The motel is comfortable for budget travelers. The location is good, close to water and to the highway.

What I did not like was a parking space right in front of the room and any car could park there. A pick up truck which parked in front of my room made a bit of noise and I could smell the carbon monoxide. The air cond/heater unit is a window type. It made quite a loud noise.

However, the overall stay was satisfactory.

Basic clean accommodation in central location. No complaints.
Late night check in system works (a worry when arriving at 1am)

Most peculiar. From the road it looks like quite a normal motel. For Perth it is reasonably priced, and was a welcome last minute booking. The staff were friendly and helpful, though the office shuts earlyish. However from inside the motel grounds the place looks like a council estate from the 1960s or 70s - with people standing on their porches smoking cigarettes all hours of the day and night. The accommodation was huge with a kitchen separate. But the decor was very glum - bleak even - and the beds were very soft. For 2 nights it was worth it. And its near to a brilliant Vietnamese - turn right outside the gate; and it does have free parking and a huge guest laundry

Room Tip: Eat at the nearby Vietnamese

Booked this place thru HotelClub.com & chose it for the budget & good reviews I read on TripAdvisor. Well it lived up to all the comments. The room was very clean, had everything that was needed. The beds were comfortable, LCD TV and the kitchen had all that was needed, microwave, stove, cooking pans, pots, kettle, my wife cooked two meals while we were there four days. The room is basic, not luxury but had all that you need.

If you want a clean, good room, complete with kitchen and sizeable, & on a budget too, go for this. Location was good too. Right in front of swan river and 20 minutes walk to the CBD and malls. The neighbour hotels just a stone throw away are luxury Novotel and Pan Pacific which costs 3 to 4 times more. It is also near the ferry terminal, 5 minutes walk and you can get a ferry to Freemantel or a cruise to the famous swan valley for wines. The railway station/chinatown is about 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes taxi.

I travelled with my wife and six month old infant baby. A baby cot was provided and my baby slept well too. Room had a twin bed and one single bed and even with a baby cot it did not feel cramped.

But if you are planning a holiday with a girlfriend, maybe this place may not impress her as it is basic, no frills and no luxury. But for this kind of budget, this is your best bet as it is clean and good.

The service at the front desk was good too and friendly and informative on the local tours, bus info, map, helped us book the airport shuttle, etc etc.

Downside? None... No just joking, sure there is.... For one, the front desk is not 24 hours, it operates from 7am to 8pm only, so if you are checking out early in the morning??? or if you have a problem at night??? No Free Wifi Internet, I had to buy a coupon to access the wifi internet. At this age, it should be free...
Also the room had everything neccessary including air conditioning but during my stay the weather/temperature was good and therefore did not need airconditioning to be switched on, a ceiling fan would have been very useful but there was none. Wish there was one.
Everything else was good, no regrets staying here at all. Yes, you should go ahead and book for City Waters.

We stayed at City Waters for three weeks. It is in an excellent position for getting around Perth and the surrounding area. The apartment was clean and well equipped for a longer stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. With it's river front position it really is a 5 star location, whilst paying a 3 star price.

I agree with Chemicalpete and others that say this is a good budget option, but disagree somewhat on it being the best location. It all depends on what you want to be near. Yes, it's a 10 minute easy walk to the Barrack St Jetty for the ferries and tours, but not so close to the malls, restaurants, and nightlife. It probably is better suitable for families than for singles or couples. It's all walkable, but a bit of a hassle if you want a lot of choices nearby. One clue: it's usually the last stop for the tourbus pickups. Also, it's more like an American motel than a hotel (2 stories, parking outside the rooms, room entry from the courtyard).

Pluses: Quiet, reasonably clean, HDTV, iron, kitchen with stove, microwave, coffee pot and fridge, The latter is well stocked with creamer. Staff is friendly and very helpful if asked for advice. Around the corner from Pan Pacific Hotel (formerly Sheraton) which goes for $340 and up a night but always has a taxi line.

Minuses: Bare bones amenities - painted brick walls, no shampoo, doesn't have a proper doorlock. Some mold spots in shower. No WiFi. Not close to action.

Tip: If booking a tour, go to the Tourist Kiosk at the Barrack St Jetty to book them all (Margaret River, Fremantle, Rottnest, Perth CitySightseeing). They don't charge any more and sometimes have deals that the tour companies (e.g., Gray Line) don't advertise. If you're interested in a wine tour in the Swan River Valley area, ask about the specialized tours from Swan Valley Tours and Out & About Wine Tours. They book up fast; the others don't really focus on wineries.
