The rooms are a bit worn and on the small side, but clean. The in-room safe and wireless internet access are a big plus. Breakfast at the restaurant is no more than adequate, and there is occasional night-time noise from the downstairs bar, but the location could hardly be better.

We have been 1 week in this hotel. Only advantage: It is on a central spot. Room has been refurbishid many many years ago.Bathroom needs also urgently repair and maintenance. In the morning we were waked up by a noisy airconditioning from the kitchen area. Complains were ignored by "we will inform the management" There are better alternatives nearby as e.g Travelodge hotel which cost slightly more but offers much better rooms.
The free internet terminals were worn out and the Internet explorer was not updated sind many years and created therefore problems. The room service "forget" one day to clean our room and we have to insist that at least the minimum of cleaning.
We can't therefore recommand nobody this hotel!

Went there in Dec 2009 with my husband and i must say the stay has been a real disappointment. We had book a 5 nights package with dinner included but were given only one dinner voucher upon arrival. The staff were even arguing with us that dinner is only provided per stay and not everyday for the trip when i had sought their confirmation before the trip and they replied to say YES, it's dinner for everyday of the trip. Strangely, the staff maning the counter looks more like students and were plain rude. I gave up and reminded them to give me the bottle of wine which came with the package. Guess what, they delivered the bottle of wine only on the 3rd night of the stay! We are left with remaining 2 nights to finish the bottle. The room looks rundown too with leaking pipe and nosiy air-con. Would advise people not to go for this hotel if possible.

I was pleased with this place. I always try to stay at reasonably cheap places anyway. As long as the room has a shower, TV and fridge, that satisfies me. Who wants to go on a trip and stay in their room for the majority of the time?
So anyhow, I would compliment the staff on their knowledge of how to get about and where things are in Perth CBD. They also are adept at how to get to other locations, such as Kalamunda or Fremantle. The adjoining restaurant is very nice.
All hotel rooms have Do Not Disturb signs available, which I found helpful with being able to sleep-in. The staff will simply slip a note under your door saying they will come back later. Better than some places where they simply put the key in the lock and enter your room.
The central location is very useful. With the aid of a map I was able to walk to Subiaco, but I do enjoy walking and saving taxi fares. The only down side for me was the lift, which was slightly rattly, but not a big concern. The ensuite area was nice and clean. Great place to stay if you want to be conservative about spending money on accommodation. After all, this leaves you with more spending money when you get out and about.

Really liked the art deco style. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and the room was comfortable, if compact.

1. Location: Great; within walking distance of pedestrianised malls, jetties, train stations.

2. Staff: Good (comparative to all hospitality and service staff in Perth). Not terribly helpful nor friendly for a tourist business but do get things done.

3. Free 24-hour wifi; irritating that only for 3-hour blocks, necessitating a trip to the lobby even in middle of night for new password. Computers available at lobby though.

4. Rooms are clean and of comfortable size; though facilities are basic and old.

We had prebooked 2 stays either side of a week long trip to Exmouth. The first room was pretty grotty on the ground floor and with hindsight we should have asked to be moved but after a long flight from Hong Kong we just wanted to go to bed. We then went on a our trip, on our return we had a room was on the 2nd floor and a lot lot nicer.
The hotel is in a good location, especially for the train station and shops and the restaurant was very good. If we had had a better room for the first stay it would have made our overall impression a lot better.
