“Did not get to stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2013

I booked online for a Family Room, was charged immediately for it . A day after i received an email to inform me that they had made a mistake , they changed me to another Motel. I was not at all impressed and did specify that if its at par with my booking on a Family Room with Kitchen Facilities , there would be no further complain. We were not give the type of room promised, we were given a standard room with double/singe bed!!! and we felt being short changed by Brownelea HOliday Apartments. The reply to me when i called "This is the best you can get" is totally unprofessional by Mr Ung.!!!!

We arrived at this room and it was so depressing that at additional cost we booked somewhere else for our stay. Im 6'2 and the room was designed for a 5'2 person... Tiny shower, small bed. Dark wood interior... Very very basic facilities and needing an update and uplift.

In 17 years running these apartments this is the first time a guest has complained that the apartments and showers are small. The apartment is 34 square metres and while not big I think no one can say it is small. The shower is 0.9 metres square with an open top and was bought from our hardware shop Bunnings and probably is the same size as that in many Australian homes. The bed is a queensized bed and 6ft 2 inch long. This complaint is unfair and unjust and shows the mercy that accommodation owners/operators experience from guests who may want to hit back for some personal reason only they know. Our apartments are 40 years old but they are well maintained, clean, comfortable and well located being close to most amenities and we have many guests who keep coming back. Other reviews found prior to this unfair review confirms what I say.

Yes it isn't a flash fancy hotel apartment but for a very reasonable price for Perth, you can stay in a well fitted out apartment, that is central to everything. The apartment was spotless, as was the pool and garden. The owners were extremely efficient and courteous. The position is very central to everything and I would definitely stay there again. There is a little cafe just around the corner that is great for breakfast or lunch too.

After a disastrous overnight stay in Applecross (the subject of another review), we changed to an apartment here for our last two nights of a month-long trip to Western Australia.
I made an enquiry by email, and had an immediate response. That set the scene for the excellent service of these family-run apartments.
The owners are charming, and the location is ideal. We were able to walk into the Museum area of Perth two days running, leaving the car at the apartment.
The room was very adequate for our needs, with everything we needed. It was clean and tidy.
The Wifi reception was not perfect, but that will have depended on how many others were trying to use it at the same time. It was much better early in the morning.
We would definitely stay here again, if we return to Perth.
It is very reasonably priced, and was recommended by another motel in the 'Arra' hotel chain.
There's no point in looking anywhere else!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have direct access to the swimming pool

We always like to stay here on our trips to Perth. The units are always clean and fresh and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The main draw card is its location. It's only a short stroll to Hyde Park, The Northbridge Hotel and a huge array of restaurants. We stay here at least 3 or 4 times a year and wouldn't think of trying anywhere else.

I was sceptical when booking this as at $115 a night in Perth you can't expect anything much! But I was pleasantly surprised.
Yes it is dated but it was clean and in a good location no more than 3 km from the city centre. It is near Hyde Park and has buses on Bulwer Street and on nearby main roads.
If you have young children, request a room on a lower floor as it is a 3 story building.
There is no oven but there are cook tops and microwaves.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe room if you want to be on the ground floor.
