“Awesome Nights Out”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

The Court Hotel is the pillar of LGBT society in Perth, it is a large venue with indoor and outdoor bar, dance floor and seating. It goes from casual drinks, pool table and lunch menu in the afternoons, to a great spot to have dinner in the evenings and one of the best nightclub scenes in Perth after 10pm. Food is reasonably priced and of a good quality and the drinks menu isn't any more expensive than you would find in Perth as a whole. Staff are friendly and the vibe after 9pm on weekends is fun, vibrant and a little bit saucy. They play a mix of Top 40 charts, remixed 80's and anthems and the dance-floor is always packed with revelers. Free entry before 9pm, usually $5 after that so the cover-charge is less than the usual $10 in Perth.

Yes, it is an LGBT venue, if the giant rainbow flag on the front entrance didn't give it away, then I'm sure the local color will clue you in, expect to see it all, from fabulous glittery drag queens, the ultra femme boys, super butch girls and everyone in between. This is a tolerant venue and really has a "live and let live" take on its patrons, it is very popular with the gay and straight crowd because of that reason, you can party all night and have a great evening out with friends without the hassle of judgement and harassment (The Court and the other LGBT venue, Connections Nightclub have an almost non-existent record of violent, drunken behavior). There is a mandatory ID scanner at the door to keep track of troublemakers and to make sure everyone can enjoy themselves.

Overall the front, inside bar has a casual but classy vibe with plush seating, a velvet printed wall, pool table and chandeliers. The outside bar is open air, over two levels (downstairs being the dance-floor) with large white sails protecting from the weather. Smoking is permitted outside and there is always a security presence to keep the safety record clean. This venue is my favorite in all of Perth, a nice venue, good layout and a rocking dance-floor after 10pm.

“You dont need to be gay”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

Yes its a gay friendly venue and if that doesnt sit well then dont go, but if your ok with it then its a great place for a drink and a dance. It can be a bit nightclubbish but good for a night out. Drinks can get a bit pricey so if you are looking to get stuck into it then it would be cheaper elsewhere
