Fairly priced and well situated. Very short walk to CBD. Don't drag your bag up the stairs llike us, Just up the drive there is a ramp! Older property but has everything you need. Even had a soak in the bath.

Arrived in Perth and found my first choice accommodation at Jewel House, YMCA an absolute disaster to say the least.

I found alternative accommodation at Mountway Holiday Apartments and was relieved to be offered long stay at negotiated prices while I settle in Perth and find permanent accommodation.

The staff member I rang was very helpful in not only finding me a room at short notice but also was prepared to negotiate a long stay rate. This was very convenient for me as I could focus on finding work and look at rental properties.

This is a really good place to stay for both short and long term stays with everything Perth has to offer (5min walk to pubs and eateries) Stay away from those hostels, especially Jewel House and have a look at Mountway Holiday Apartments.

Room Tip: Serviced apartments

This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed in! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR RISK YOUR SAFETY. It looks like the apartment Sid Vicious overdosed in. The rooms smelt terrible, the sheets and towels were filthy. The kitchen was covered in filth and gunk and the bathroom had mould on the ceiling. These people should not be allowed to run a business and furthermore should not be allowed to charge $95 for the night. Even more disgusting is that I was recommended this place by Flight Centre. I was so paranoid that I was gonna have someone break in when I slept that I barricaded the door and slept with the kitchen knife next to bed. Spend the extra $10 and get a proper hotel. PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THE MOUNTWAY. IT IS THE WORST.

This review is over the top. The only truth in the matter is the $95.00 per night charge. When people complain to your face about some aspect that they are not happy about it can usually be rectified. This person overdid it by being ridiculous. Bringing their paranoia into it indicates they have some medical condition. We do not discriminate against anyone provided they behave in a proper way in keeping with our local and international standards. We have been managers at Mountway for the last 10 years and many many improvements have been made over the years. Does anyone reading all those ridiculous comments really think the same managers would still be at Mountway after10 years if what is described was in anyway true. Imagine the stress placed on us if those aspects described in the review were true. The person was angry because they changed their minds and we retained the first night deposit having turned away genuine bookings. Notice how they preferred to sleep by barricading the door and holding a knife rather than communicating with us. Any one who reads the review and my response and mentions it can expect a discount on any published rate provided we are not over 90% booked. Mountway is fully booked 5-18 August excluding 12 & 13 August. Also fully booked 26th August - 2nd September. Come and have a look and make your own judgement. John Bergin 0403008145 or 8 93218307

Considering the many negative reviews about this apartments, we have prepared for the worst. But to our surprise, we found nothing wrong about this place! Yes, it is a bit old, probably built around the 70s, and very basic. But everything is in working order, and more importantly, it is spotlessly clean. We got a room large enough for one queen-sized bed, one single bed, and one bunk bed, and we still can move in the table and chair they put in the terrace! The kitchen is well-equipped with all the necessary utensil for simple cooking, and they even provided us with dish-washing detergent and sponge, some tea bags, coffee, and sugar.
The management was also helpful, efficient, and nice.
Extra Bonus: The LOCATION. It is within short walking distance to the city center, Barrack Street jetty, Esplanade bus station, Convention Center, and KING'S PARK. I guess no other hotel/apartment has this advantage, except the one accross (The Marquee Hotel). Other hotel might look located next to King's Park in the map, but since the park is located on a higher ground, the proximity is more vertical than horizontal.
All in all, I recommend this apartment for travelers on a budget and keen to explore the city on foot/public transport.

We stayed here for 4 nights for AUD 420. Considered quite affordable for serviced apartments in Perth. No room service throughout our stay there and had to pay AUD1 to leave our luggage as our flight was 1am. Quite good location as it's quite near to the city. Just take the red CAT to the 18th stop and walk a short distance. Friendly staff and provide information when we just arrived

Just got back from Perth, stayed here. The rooms are basic, but quite clean. The location is very good just walk over bridge and your in the city. You won't find anything cheaper in Perth, the people who have wrote bad reviews were expecting too much from two stars and at the end of the day your only going to be sleeping here, your out most of the day. The only bad things were the WiFi did not work well, also the lock on the front door was not very good, it could have been open by a two year old!!

Thankyou for your comments. Generally the Wi-Fi works very well. Usually its a case of selecting the strongest signal on your laptop. Our staff at reception are able to assist you. Shinto is our in- house expert. Over the last 2 weeks the locksmith from Apollo Locksmiths has been upgrading the locks floor by floor first level 5 then level 4, 1 and ground then level 2. Level 3 was only completed 3rd July (believe it or not). At a cost of over $5000.00 the building now has completely re-keyed locks. Usually the guests have trouble getting into the rooms as they have turned the deadbolt and locked themselves out before trying the top lock....I take a little pleasure in telling them 'see very good security...even with a key very hard to get into your room'. Another true story from the manager John Bergin.

We booked for 5 nights at Mountway, expecting that it would be simple as the price was quite reasonable, but when we saw the place we almost turned around and drove off. We probably would have if it wasn't 3am having just got off a long flight. Couldn't get parking on site so had to drive quite far up the street.

The rooms are extremely dated, (particularly bathroom and kitchen) but a fairly good size and not dirty. The bed was comfortable, but we woke up several times overnight with the air conditioning turning off (it is on a timer, and in february heat you really notice when its not on!). The lift is rickety and honestly, we were too scared to get in it. We decided to move to a motel out by the beach after two nights (only because we needed to give 48 hours notice or we would be charged).

In short, only stay here if you are on a VERY tight budget, and need to be close to the city.

Thank you for your comments regarding Mountway. Yes its true the tariffs of the apartments are affordable. Yes the almost art-deco appearance can put some people off but as you say at 3am after a long flight you just needed a comfortable bed. Parking is in demand late at night and Mountway is not exclusive with limited free parking. Mountway is extremely dated except for the Mitsubishi 1.5 airconditioners and the new DTV's. Mountway is not as dated as the Dorchester in London which was built in 1930. Mountway was built in 1960. The lift is not rickety so please honestly be honest. I would rather stay at the beach any day but for a budget price and a 30 second walk into the city please consider the very affordable Mountway Holiday Apartments. BTW the airconditioners are on a 4 hour timer so if you're at the beach for 8 hours and accidently leave the airconditioner on we save 4 hours which helps keep our tariffs the lowest in town. JB
