“Excellent Special Occasion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2014

My Partner and I spenat one night here for her special birthday in December. The Hotel is in a lovely street close to Kings Park and is a lovely boutique hotel, freshly refurbished and immaculately presented. The staff were fantastic, top notch service both in the hotel and in Opus restaurant where we had a birthday dinner. The prices are not outrageous and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a special occasion.

The hotel rightly has a high reputation but is far from stuffy like so many other 5 star hotels can be. Our room was palatial with a good view from the balcony. The fridge is well stocked and prices are reasonable. There is also a fantastic coffee machine and the wi-Fi works well and is free. The bed is the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in while the service is excellent and unobtrusive. We were warmly welcomed on arrival an any requests were promptly and efficiently dealt with. This is well worth it for a treat as it is a fabulous hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one on 5th floor or above with a balcony facing kings park

Really love this hotel as it lives up to the expectation springing from the high Tripadvisor ranking. Spacious room, with a small open kitchen and a 4-person dining table. Good location. 5 minutes' taxi will take you to the lovely suburbs of Leederville and Subiaco where good cafes and restaurants abound. Very proactive and attentive service. We bought a bottle of wine and the staff immediately brought an ice bucket for chilling. All in all, fully recommend.

Room Tip: Recommend to include breakfast in your room booking. You can order anything on the menu ! Good quali...

Our 23rd wedding anniversary was just days away so a snap decision to stay the night at The Richardson Hotel was made. We had eaten at Opus on previous occasions but living just minutes away had never considered staying there.

Our anniversary was last Sunday and unfortunately Opus wasn't open but we knew that when we booked. We booked the only time slot available (9.30am) on Sunday morning for the Spa to indulge in facial and massage and so pleased we did that, I'm not surprised it was booked for the rest of the day. Reception made sure our room was ready for late morning when we had finished with the spa which was a lovely surprise to be able to go straight up to the room and relax.

The room was sensational but that was exactly what we'd expect from a hotel with its reputation. The things that set it aside from other quality hotels in Australia (which are becoming common overseas) are the espresso machine and being coffee lovers we really enjoyed it. Free wifi is important and whilst we didn't need it, it speaks volumes about the hotel.

The only thing that was wrong was we weren't able to spend more time there. Would highly recommend this hotel and if you get a chance book the Spa and Opus Restaurant.

Thank You for taking the time to post your review, and i am delighted to read that your spur of the moment decision turned into a wonderful experience. It is unfortunate that it was a Sunday and the Opus Restaurant was closed, however should you wish to visit Opus in the near future, then please do get in contact with the hotel and ask for me directly.

We hope to see you soon.

It was nice to be greeted by the hotel manager on check in. Staff were all very polite and pleasant. The room was equip with everything we needed, including an espresso coffee machine. Small details such as complimentary berry tea and a chocolate by the bedside made all the difference. The King size bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept on in a hotel and the pillows were awesome!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Richardson. It’s our second visit there and like last time it was excellent.
The service started with the reservations team who were polite and professional answering queries via email and telephone accurately and promptly.
On arrival, the front desk staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Many of them remembered my name as we came and went through the lobby area during the course of our stay.
The room was absolutely spotless and well appointed – the in room coffee machine was a nice addition since we last stayed there. As was the updated entertainment system – there was an extensive choice of movies on demand – it made choosing very difficult. The room also had a good WiFi
The Gym and pool area were very nice. I had a quick swim and relaxed on the pool lounges, while my wife had a quick workout on the treadmills and exercise bikes.
Breakfasts served in the Café were good also.
The Richardson is located in a whisper quiet, leafy, back street just outside the main CBD of Perth. Perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle. However it is walking distance to the City and Subiaco where there are bars, restaurants etc. Kings Park is also a short walk away – a beautiful landmark of Perth.
Overall a perfect few days away. Thankyou to all at the Richardson.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Richardson for Christmas Day - when we arrived, the lobby door was opened for us and the wonderful service began - we were escorted to our room and shown around, with all facilities explained. We had a hand written Christmas card from the manager along with a Christmas gift of Lindt chocolate snowballs waiting for us. There was also a bottle of iced berry tea which was lovely after we chilled it in the fridge. Shortly after we arrived, there was a knock on the door from a lovely staff member offering a turn down service, which we took advantage of and were very happy with. It certainly is the little things that add up - such as a cover for the spare toilet paper, slippers and robes, and proper coat hangers that you can remove from the rail!

We had family join us for Christmas dinner at the Opus restaurant, the set menu was absolutely phenomenal and as my partner is gluten intolerant, I was very pleased with the knowledge of all wait staff and the ease of being able to alter the meal to make it gluten free. I highly commend the chef for all aspects of the 5 course meal, it was simply divine - a special mention to the raspberry souffle for dessert - heaven in your mouth!

Back in our room, we chose one of 120 free movies to wind down with and slept soundly all night on the very comfortable bed/pillows. Breakfast (which was included with our room rate) was amazing also, we were offered a full, freshly cooked breakfast as well as being able to choose from the buffet which was unlike any other hotel buffet I've been to. I am not normally a buffet fan, but this was very understated and elegant, offering fruit, cereals, fresh pastries and preserves as well as 3 different kinds of yoghurt spooned into Mikasa glasswear which was absolutely heavenly!

We had organised a late checkout, so spent some time relaxing on the sun lounger on the balcony before returning to the real world. My only gripe is that the staff member that showed us to our room told us that breakfast was served until 10am, when it is actually 11am on public holidays, so we could have slept in a little longer, but that is not important when everything else was so wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel for a special escape.
