Friends suggested we go for dinner. We were a bit sceptical having the 4 course set menu, being that we're not good on set menus! But how delightfully surprised we were.
The food was delicious. The service excellent. The atmosphere good. BYO a big plus!!!
Good value and it's also in the Entertainment Book.
Having been back twice and are taking friends again next week, would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Exquisite presentation of what I will call "Nippon Nouvelle", sort of a Japanese take on Continental cuisine. The four-course set menu offered a variety of flavors and textures, and sparked a lot of conversation (we were a party of eight). Service was attentive although it seemed prompter for the smaller tables. Bring your own wine, since none was on offer.
Elegant, simple decor with quite lively acoustics, and not overpriced.

It was a lovely dinner at reasonable prices. We all opted for the 3 course set dinner that came with a few choices of the entree, main & desert. The portions were adequate & yummy. My duck confit was especially good. The staff were attentive, coming around to fill up your glasses. Your jackets/coats will be kept in the cloak room for you & handed to you promptly when you leave, without having to ask for them. While there were 2 seatings, there was a 2 1/2 hours in beween the next seating, so you don't feel rushed through the dinner. There was plenty of time. We even took a rest of about 15 minutes before we got our desserts served.

Went to Nine Fine Food after hearing all the rave. The cosy dining room is simple and beautiful. The staff were all pleasant. When prompted what house speciality to order, the staff were all helpful and very knowledgeable of the menu. Impress!

I however cannot say the same of the food. The food were all presented beautifully albeit it strayed away from the traditional Japanese presentation. I think this is brilliant as it shows the creativity flair of the chefs. But the execution of the taste was a real let down. The sashimi platter wow-ed me with it's exquisite presentation but the salmon was not cut properly and in fact, the entire piece was inedible. The soft shell crab was not gutted and this is fine if it was crispy. But no, it was soggy! The tataki beef is another massive let down. Cannot chew and totally wasted sitting on the plate.

Bluntly put, there is no point in creating dishes that looks great on a plate when the taste is mediocre, butchery badly executed and taste musked by other ingredients. Japanese cuisine prides itself in using quality ingredients, seasonal produce and impeccable (read: often minimalist sugimori and hiramori) presentation. In the case of Nine Fine Food, over-doing is the downfall.
