“Simple, wholesome, affordable food, comforting ambience.”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

The concept of eat all you want, pay what you can is just perfect, but I like that they also request one not to waste food, so you never feel the need to go over board on the plate pile.

It is a place that just seems to gain your respect for simple food and the importance of enjoying a meal without the pressure of dining out.

The beautiful view of the river as I ate my rasam, rice, carrot and cabbage poriyal was more food for thought than I could have bargained for. I had a sea gull for company and he too seemed to want to share in my reverie as much as my meal :-)

We went a little late so the papads and rotis might have exhausted themselves, if you want the full meal, get there by 12:00 when the doors open and chances are you will eat to your hearts content and leave with your tummy full and a smile on your face. Worth a visit.

“A truly special place”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

It is unusual to find, especially in a top location, a restaurant where you can pay what you think the meal is worth! And I sat with others, as it was crowded, great people, great food. If only there was somewhere like this in every city! A true joy in every way, with views over the harbour!

“OK for a low fuss lunch”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

I had read a lot of the reviews on here, so knew what to expect. I had booked a table for two for lunch, but needn't have bothered as there was plenty of spare tables. We arrived and were shown where to sit, but that was all. No explanation was given on the process, so we just figured it out, go get your food, get your cutlery, get your drinks, put your dishes on the tray when you have finished. Simple process that does work. The food was pretty good, but basic. At the risk of sounding like a snob I would have liked some bread or something similar, this would have been awesome. It was a simple low fuss lunch for a good cause,

“Somwhere different”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

Simple vegetarian food served to one and all for a voluntary contribution. The purpose of the mission is to promote vegetarianism around the world. Very popular with people from all walks of life. To us it was an opportunity to experience something different and we were not disappointed.
We observed most people make a contribution and some not. One couple emptied the milk provided for diners' tea/coffee into a plastic glass and leave the eatery. Misuse?

“Be fair, don't be 'THAT' person.”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

The food is wholesome and fulling, it is a wonderful experience to go this place, this venue and eat as you want and pay as you feel ethos is great. Annalakshmi brings people from all walks of life together. It is not fancy but everything else makes up for it.

It is surprising to see how little some people give, if you can not afford it or can only afford a couple of dollars of course that is OK, but if you have the money and just walk out without paying anything or pay a pittance you should have a little think about your attitude to life. Be fair with what you give.
