My family - 2 adults and 2 teenagers visited the Treaty grounds on a very rainy day in June. We didn't know what to expect but were delighted by our visit. We bought the Ultimate combo ticket which includes Entrance, the Guided Tour and Cultural performance, the cost was worth every dollar and children under 17 were free. What a refreshing change to be able take our teenagers free of charge.
We arrived at lunchtime and had lunch in the super cafe - the meat pies were amazing. The cultural show, and we have been to a few, was very well done.. A story was told by one of the dancers whilst the remainder of this professioinal group sang, danced and displayed their Maori weaponary, all done with lots of 'gusto'.
Our tour guide was John, he was excellent and gave an amazing tour packed full of dates and historical information. Given the historical imporance of these grounds we were delighted to see how well they are kept. And even though it rained all day were still enjoyed walking round. We were also provided with Waitangi Ponchos to keep the rain at bay.
We would throughly recommend this as a 'must see & do' in Paihia.
