Auckland City Hotel-Hobson St

We stayed here after 3 weeks in lovely New Zealand and had been spoilt by our other accommodation. We wanted a central location for our two days in Auckland and it certainly met that requirement. The room was large and clean, no view but not too much of a problem. The bathroom / wet room was large but lacked a sink plug, soap dish or any surface in the shower area and no shelves at all so we had to put our toilet bags on the floor. The room lacked personality also. The tea cups were also very small. Wifi was charged and this may be the norm in the city but all it did was drive us out to find free wifi. Staff friendly. I would like to see the rooms more personal and the basics addressed.

To be fair.. I was upgraded to an executive suite but it was more than I expected ... Clean and roomy and the staff was helpful... It is centrally located and I managed to cover a good part by walk.. I would go back for sure

I give this hotel an excellent rating. This was a cheap hotel in the centre of Auckland so we were not expecting much, but when we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised. Very clean and spacious studio unit and nice and modern. Staff were friendly and helpful and our room was well serviced each day. No view except to the apartment block next door (which provided some great people watching!!) but no complaints about that as did not expect a view at all, as it is a low cost hotel! The rooms are so well noise insulated that despite the hotel being fully booked, we never heard any of the guests in the rooms next to us. There is traffic noise but fully expected considering the hotel is in the CBD! We walked everywhere, including vector arena, britomart to catch the ferries and the viaduct harbour. Would definately stay here again as it represents fantastic value for money (my sister in law stayed at another hotel a block from us and their room was $60 more a night than ours, and the only difference was they had a couch and a kitchenette). Highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the main attractions in downtown Auckland, but far enough away from where most of the people are, making it an ideal location. The staff are very friendly and available to help in anyway they can.

The room we stayed in was of a comfortable size, and the bed made for a great sleep. The rates were very good, we are very glad we stayed here during our stay in Auckland.

This hotel has a great central location. We were able to walk to the harbor, wintergarden, bus stop half a block down that took us to zoo, convenience store close. 2 blocks away from sky tower.
Hotel itself is very clean, modern, and incredibly quiet. Never heard another person during our stay. Bed was just ok, definitely good enough. Black out curtains and empty fridge. Car park is 25$/day. Great water pressure and super hot water. You get an hour free wifi/ day, but it kept dropping off (only 2 bars). Aircon was a little weird, the dirt night it ran constantly, but didn't feel that cold, next night it was cooler, but kept coming on&off and it is loud!
Overall, I would stay here again. Very reasonable for a clean central place!

The room is bad, no proper ventilation, it is like a storage room with a bed, the toilet stinks even if it is clean. Not worth for 4 star rating. The only good thing about this hotel is their location.

For the price this hotel met my expectations. It was simply furnished with a comfortable bed and a large window with a fair outlook from the top floor. The tele had a great range of channels but the tv aside it was right in the heart of the beautiful city and marina area of Auckland. Lift access is quick... but parking is not so cheap.
Overall the service was courteous and at times charming.
Give it a go if you are on a budget.
