A beautiful part of Auckland, with great views. It's a nice drive along the coast with some very pretty scenery

We cycled here and Kawakawa Bay is a lovely spot with great views out into the Gulf. The motel is directly across the road from the beach so you can wake and look directly out at the beach. The motel is in a perfect position and the owner/manager was a very pleasant chap. We stayed in a small end unit which, although dated, is perfectly good as a place to stay - plenty of equipment to make for a pleasant enough stay and a great sleep.

The unit we stayed in was sorely needing a spring clean but otherwise, we would have rated it higher.

Well worth a little weekend away from the city.

A weekend stay at the Beachcomber Motel in Kawakawa Bay was idyllic! A drive to Thames, Karangahape Gorge, Tapapakanga Regional Park, Miranda Bird Sanctuary, Miranda Hot Pools, and Orere Point were all crowd-free no-time-limit pleasures.

What a lovely bay with gorgeous views....lovely until you see sewerage pipes sticking out into the water with accompanying signs that the water is polluted. For goodness sake can someone not clean up this beautiful place?

This is an area that is a little out the way but well worth the effort. On a day day with c;lear skies the water is is a deep teal with a bunch of small islands just out to sea. Great spot to spend a couple of hours and eat some of the loacl sea food.
