“Lots of steam and smoke”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Our tour had an early morning stop at Glenbrook. The train ride consisted of number 179 pulling red open and closed carriages. I was allowed a footplate ride for half the journey. Great fun. The loco works and shed are well worth a visit with engines that are used on the main lines for special trains. we had a photo shoot on the return trip. Back at the station is a nice shop with books and DVDs for the enthusiast, as well as a nice restaurant served by ladies in period costume.
This is a must for any rail enthusiast visiting New Zealand . Wonderful friendly staff who volunteer their time for a great cause.

“Great family entertainment”

Been many times, it is always a great place to take children on their promotional days. Ride the train, or take the double decker bus around the area. Even visiting the Glenbrook train workshops is very interesting for train enthusiasts

A great trip to Waiuku to see the Christmas Display at the Waiuku Town Hall. The volunteers do a fantastic job of running the railway.

“Great Fun”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

We enjoyed this even if the day started off poorly with the announcement that the steam engine had broken down and had been replaced by a diesel. Obviously these things happen and as steam buffs we understand, so we were delighted when they got the engine fixed for half of our return run with "Diana".

Quite authentic experience with beautifully restored old carriages, old suitcases on the luggage racks and on the luggage trolley in the station, all staff wearing old uniforms, working signal system including staff safe working, a great old timber water tank, pump trolley and more.

Fun for young and old - give it a go.
