“modern, spotlessly clean, and excellent value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2011

The location of Bianco Off Queen was excellent. Just around the corner from busy Queen St, it was close to a range of well priced restaurants, and downtown generally, but in a quiet street.
Our apartment was a small studio, but had all we needed- a kitchenette with limited cooking facilities, very comfortable good quality Queen sized bed, and an excellent bathroom. All fittings and furnishings seemed almost brand new, and were in pleasant neutral tones.
The breakfast kit was only small, with a couple of slices of bread to toast, cereal, juice and milk, plus jam and stuff for the toast- but enough to get you started for the day.
We paid NZ$109 for the apartment, which included the breakfast pack and parking, and I thought this to be good value.
I was apprehensive after seeing some of the very negative reviews on this site, and a few need addressing:

1 Reception staff were busy, but organised and polite. They didnt fawn over you, or carry your bags, but come on, go to a 5 star hotel if this is what you want!
2 As advertised, the lower priced rooms are not air conditioned. However they have opening windows, and a door onto a small balcony, so there's plenty of ventilation.
3 The parking arrangements are tight, but okay. This is a capital city and a high rise building, not a country town parking lot.
4 The room's furniture, floor coverings, bedlinen- everything- were good quality, almost new and spotless. (see photos) As far as I was told, all rooms are furnished the same. I'm a fussy person- I don't know where the complaints of dirtiness are coming from!
5 This is an unsafe area with prostitutes??????? I'm aged 61, conservative. I walked around at night. I saw nothing to bother me and felt quite safe.

Dear Impossible 50

WOW thanks for taking the time out to write such a comprehensive review of our property.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay and can honestly say that I wish other people would look at things as they are instead of always seeing the negatives in a property.

We are located downtown, being downtown will always have its positives and negatives but overall people would much prefer to be there.

I suggest you take a one bedroom apartment on your next visit or a one bedroom superior apartment which has Air-Con like we advertise. These have much more space than a studio and can be more comfortable for a little extra.

Thank you for your great review, I look forward to welcoming you back personally on your next visit.

From the moment I checked in the service was excellent.
Staff very friendly.
I had a two bedroom apartment and it was great.
Though I have heard that room only accommodation is a tad small so if there is more than one of you opt for the 2 bedrooms!
The place is quiet, close to downtown, attractions and the airport bus stop is only a 3 minute walk away.

Dear Viking,

Thank you for your feedback. I am really happy to hear the staff service was excellent, in fact it is something we have been working very hard to get right and I am delighted to hear of your stay.

You are right, if you want that extra space our 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments are ideal, both are 45+ SQM and are perfect for between 1-5 people depending on the room you choose.

I look forward to welcoming you back, thanks for your great feedback!

Starting with car park...unbelievably small. Then they dont explain you properly that there are two towers and that each have they own lifts. We took the wrong lift and coudnt understand where the hell we were until someone who was staying there told us where abouts to go even thou in the lifts we did run in to someone from staff and he didnt know whata hell we were talking about because of language barrier. If you cant speak english or understand it you shouldnt be working in customer service in NZ. And usually for one stay at hotel you get only charged one fee of $20 not double that. We thought that was unfair. We asked for apartment with two bedrooms and portacot coz we have small baby and we got that but the livingroom was so small we kept tripping over some stupid legs of the sofa that was put in middle in room already in that small space. And then we met couple next door and they were only two of them in two bedroom apartment livingroom twice the size...its what we shud have gotten as we have a baby who needs to run around. And they paid less and i dont understand how did that work out. Very unfair. Carpet has stains everywhere. Noisy airconditioners on the roofs all around. TV so small you had to sit right next to it to understand whats going on and then few channels werent even clear for some reason. Cereal tasted like its 100 years old. Beds were so hard it was like sleeping on the floor...pillows were also superhard and impossible to sleep on. There should have been some balkony seats and table. You get the picture!!! It says on internet 4 and a half stars ...its about 2 and a half!

I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of my 5 week trip to New Zealand. This was one of the worst hotels I stayed at during my trip. The pros were the price, it was one of the cheapest, but that was about the only good thing. There was no AC, it was loud, the room was dirty, and the staff was not very friendly. I would highly recommend spending a few extra bucks and staying at a nicer place.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments with regards to your recent stay at Bianc off Queen. I am indeed disappointed that we offered you a less than satisfactory stay at our property.

Please note the following:

Our building advertises AC in certain room types being Superior Rooms. Guests have the option of choosing one of our superior rooms or taking a standard room with fans that we provide. On your next visit with us, please choose a superior room if you would like AC, we do NOT avertise AC in standard rooms that was initially booked by you. Had you requested an AC room, we would have been more than happy to move you.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Kind Regards

Pros: it's cheap. It's close by foot to everything

Cons: what they don't tell you is that at least half the complex is rented out to students. They also don't tell you that all the students have big stereos. They also don't tell you there is no ac. They also don't tell you that their front desk staff are confused and unprofessional. The night we arrived they were dealing with MANY botched and lost reservations. The room itself was ok but the hotel over all sucked.

Thank you for making the time to relay your encounter about Bianco off Queen Serviced Apartments on Tripadvisor.

I am terribly sorry to learn of your disappointment.

Please be aware of the following:
