“Good apartment rooms, central location”
Reviewed 29 May 2012

Outside of the building (red, black and white) and the inside concrete is not much to look at. However, the inside of the apartment room is wonderful and very very comfortable: clean, spacious, big kitchen, big fridge, two bedrooms, nice bathroom (but no bath), nice TV, balcony.

There is only one elevator, which was a bit of an issue (we were on the 17th floor), as we had to wait long sometimes; we went out-of-season and I can't imagine what it would be like in season, when the hotel may be really full.

Location on the edge of the city centre is very good. No free wi-fi. Indian restaurant inside which looked good but we didn't try it.

Taxi from the hotel to the international airport cost us NZD 55, although the guy at the reception had estimated NZD 35.

The building is unique in design with an Industiral flare. The hotel rooms are spacios and modern. Baths in many hotels are being removed as many look to become more environmental and conserve on water consumption. Discount Cabs are the only cab company who take $35 cash for a car to the airport this is who we promote. If the cab company you took was different then this rate wouldnt apply.

We stayed here for one night. It was modern and clean and reasonably spacious. I thought it was good value too. It didn't have much character but if you just need somewhere to sleep and a hotel that is close to everything, this is a good option.

The room we stayed in also had cooking facilities, a fridge and dishwasher. This would make it very easy to self-cater. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery, cutlery etc.

The best thing about this hotel was the price - I thought it was good value for an inner city location.

Celestion is definately great value for money. A spacious apartment in the CBD for less than hotel prices. You cant beat that.

We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who directed us to the car park (not part of this building but nearby). The entrance is a little austere but pleasant, clean and tidy. We had booked a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment at a very reasonable price, the apartment was modern with two double bedrooms a lounge/kitchen area with a very comfortable sofa, dining table for 4 the kitchen was well equipped with a dish washer all necessary crockery and cutlery. Beds were very comfortable and there was ample hanging and storage place for clothes. The bathroom was large had a large shower, no shampoos or lotions but a make up remover sachet and pump action liquid soap in the shower and at the basin, good supply of towels and all very very clean. There is a small balcony overlooking the street and the sea albeit the dock land area. Here's the best news for those of you who like Indian cuisine, there is a Little India restaurant in the foyer, Little India being some of the best Indian food in New Zealand, we had an excellent room which we ordered and collected to have in the room, delicious. All in all a very good stay.

Little India is a fantastic restaurant chain in NZ and we are very lucky to have them onsite. The food is always consistant and up to a very high standard. PLease do ensure you show your room key to get a further 10% off your final food bill.

This hotel is about 10 mins walk to shopping area, then the location is good enough for me. The mattress is new and comfortable. Fortunately, I was upgraded to 2 bedrooms apartment, and all equipments are in good condition.

Good location in easy walking distance from the waterfront and all the related attractions. Room(s) consisted of a spacious lounge, kitchenette, balcony and 2 bedrooms, one twin and a double. Very clean, modern and up to date. Cable based internet at by city centre standards modest cost and in room safe. Kitchen equipment was basic, no coffee / tea pot. Reception staff were polite and helpful, parking on site but as extra charge. Having stayed in Sydney 3 weeks earlier in a similar standard of hotel at 3 times the price this was very good value.

Room Tip: Upper floors offer better views

The hotel doesn't seem special from the outside but it is very clean and very spacious inside.
The dishwasher, the two bedroom, the separate living room and dining table made it all easier for us to enjoy our stay at Celestion Waldorf Apt.
We were even impressed about their customer service specially the girl on duty on May 18 (swing shift), I believe her name was Leila.
Prior this, we stayed at Stamford hotel for 3 nights and I had the same problem with my phone card.
I couldn't dial the access card from our room which was bizarre because I was able to use it in Wellington.
The Stamford hotel never helped us with this problem so I had to use the hotel phone.
I ended up getting charged for $43 for placing a "local" call for about 10 minutes but with Leila, she even went up personally to our room to help us then she said "There seems to be a problem with the phone line and I will fix it and come back to you shortly".
She called up in less than 20 minutes in spite that she was busy at the front desk and she fixed the problem!!!
On the same day, we also requested a coffee plunger and she went all the way to the kitchen to look for it and came back and said "We will bring it to your room once we find one". Few minutes later, they brought it to our room.
Prior to our check out, we inquired about where we could print our boarding pass, Leila gave us the e-mail where we could forward it to. That's what we did and we just picked it up from the front desk with Free of charge.
Hands down to them! I admire their customer service and the quality of the room.

Cheers,
Rm# 805 - San Francisco/Melbourne based

Thank you for your comments i have given this review to Lilia who is over the moon to be mentioned on Trip Advisor. Our staff do work very hard to ensure guests have a pleasant and enjoyable staff at Celestion. Being mentioned is an icing on the cake.

my wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. After viewing other writers here, we went with this place. The place was lovely... close to everywhere... and the rooms were well set out.. and comfortable beds. The rest of the nice things others have written are all true.
As most of us who use tripadvisor we want to know the notso nice things also. ok, all minor.... the car park is small in the complex, helps if you dont have a large vehicle. the side laneway entrance is a bit of a pain. Access to it is close to a busy intersection, and if someone parks there, as happened to us, it is difficult to enter or leave. In our situation, we notified the front desk to get the driver to move, as 2 vehicles were waiting to enter. there was no urgency by the desk staff to get the car moved- they knew the driver.
We asked the front desk staff for help for nice restaurants, but was pushed to use the onsite Indian restaurant only....maybe they get a bonus for that????
The room we had on a high floor was very quiet, but the windows looked straight across to an office building. As there were no sheers on the windows, we had to leave the drapes closed most of the time for privacy.
Internet use was $20... again, as it has been said before, in this day and age you expect it to be included.
car parking $22 a day.
As said, all minor points... we got a great deal online... and the room was very nice and comfortable, and we had a lovely time in Auckland.

Room Tip: choose a high room.
