Description: The iconic Hotel DeBrett is nestled in the heart of Auckland city, at the crossroads of Shortland Street’s business and High Street’s fashion precincts, just two short blocks from the waterfront. Our 25 rooms and suites are individually decorated in a mid-century modern style, show-casing contemporary New Zealand arts and crafts, overlaid with 21st century comforts. At the core of the hotel we have created a glass roofed atrium and courtyard, which provide ambient meeting spots for guests and visitors, with a casual gourmet restaurant “kitchen” at one end, and the legendary art deco “House Bar” at the other. Tucked off to the side, exclusively for house guests, is a drawing room stocked with a selection of our own art, books, music and movies. Experience a mix of calm and bustle in central Auckland, and share our special home away from home, with personal yet professional service. We look forward to welcoming you to Hotel DeBrett.

Took a long taxi trip from our airport hotel to this one on the recommendation of a relative after a two week North Island winter holiday from Sydney: we were not disappointed. In this amazing and usual space in which the restaurant is situated, there is beautiful food: almost perfect lamb and fantastic and imaginative seafood dishes, all with perfectly complementing wines and seamless service. What is more they catered for our children (very fussy feeders) with a minimum of fuss and lots of good humour. Our only regret was not staying at this very stylish establishment!

Thank Andrew W

We went for my partner's work team dinner and were able to order off a set menu with 3 options for starter, main and dessert. I had the pork belly to start which was incredible! And a decent-sized portion as well!! Next, a nice juicy, tender piece of beef with soft polenta, truffle butter, spinach and mushrooms. Finished with fromage blanc rhubarb crumble, different but also very tasty! Very nice atmosphere and just a great night all in all.

Sunday night at DeBretts is just lovely. Great modern jazz playing by local Caitlin Smith. Interesting food in a interesting room. De Bretts hotel is a stylishly rennovated Art Deco building in the heart of Auckland CBD.

For me, the genius of DeBrett's Kitchen (in addition to the excellent food) is its design, decor and ambience. So much variety in a relatively small space. A long bench seat with ~6 small tables for two, parallel with the chef's station, evokes an upmarket New York diner. A separate small banquet area curtained off permits a private group. The main atrium area can be set for a banquet. Scattered tables of varying size mean you can be comfortable at any size group or on your own. Perfectly designed for New Zealand's climate, you can see the sky in an airy 3-story atrium. Dining chairs that are so good, you don't even notice them first time. As a weekly guest I expected to eventually tire of the food - I never have. The food is excellent, the service great but professionally understated. Staff are incredibly understanding and accommodating, I often have multiple starters instead of a main, or starters as main dishes.
